Default Thieves!!!

My dad just noticed that the huge pot of flowers and green leafy stuff that we bought for my mom at CostCo on saturday is gone. Disappeared. Vanished! It was on our back patio.

The other observation that we made, that's really creeping me out, is the fact that the lock on our backdoor is damaged.

I wish I still had my 100+ pound extremely intimidating looking dog named Tiny.

Calling the locksmith in the morning, and I'm sleeping with a crowbar tonight.

Good grief!! Is nothing safe anymore??

Seems like you have alot of things stolen there......between you and your aunt.....maybe it's time for a surveillance camera. Or even just a decoy....they don't have to know it's not functional.

Hope you filed a police report so you can begin a paper trail.

P.S. Maybe set a trap. Nails or thumbtacks on the porch along with some "bait'!!

aww that stinks! You can do things like fake stickers that say you have an alarm, or put chewed up doggie toys in the yard like you have a big old dog. putting out brand new toys doesnt scare um. Thats awful that people do that.

Since the lock is broken, it means that they have done their job, and hopefully moved on. The lock smith should be able to help you get the lock fixed, but fixing your sense of security may take a bit more effort.

That stinks. I will never understand people. I would say maybe invest in a security system or another big dog.
I have the best security system in the world, 5 large dogs. Nobody comes near my house without me knowing about it, and you would have to be suicidal to break in.

Last year we had our landscaping rocks stolen by the guys who did our new roof. My aunt and I were sitting in her front yard, watching the roofers finish up the roof on my house.

At one point, I saw this guy pick up a couple of rocks from our landscaping and put them in the back of the van they arrived in. My aunt and I got up and walked into my house, looking in the back of the van as we walked by. Couldnt see the rocks...dont know where he had hidden them.

Didnt realize till after they left that this guy had stolen almost all of the same colored rock. The rocks were river stones, about the size of small loaves of bread. Think each rock weighed about 4 or 5 pounds apiece.

I'm glad he stuck to one color of rock (the yellowish colored ones) because we have a ton of different types of rock in our yard. A lot of obsidian, some geodes (rocks sliced in half and neat looking crystals inside them) pieces of marble, some mica, and a lot of river rock. From what I can tell, he only wanted the yellowish colored river rock.

I would LOVE to have a video camera system in our yard. I'd want it to record onto a DVR. (digital video, like a Tivo) I want to know who it is that's stealing from people in our neighborhood. My aunt suspects her next door neighbor's wife. (the next door neighbor also happens to be the association president of our homeowners association) The neighbor's wife had divorced him about 3yrs ago, when we were having problems with things disappearing all the time before she left in a big huff when she left her husband. (right around the time my dog died too...that's a different story, but she's a suspect in Tiny's death)

Before she left, things were disappearing all the time...after she left, the thefts stopped, for almost the entire 2 1/2 years that this lady was gone. Now that she's been back for several months, things are disappearing again. I dont know if it's actually her taking it, but I would love to have video proof of who's been stealing things.

My aunt seems to have things disappear more often than we do. Plus, my aunt has seen the neighbor lady in her yard, looking at things and moving stuff around...in my aunts yard. She was on my aunt's patio last night, picking up and rearranging things. My aunt said she's got to go out and see if anything disappeared off of her patio.

We know that my aunt's next door neighbor has stolen stuff from her before. 3yrs ago, on Easter, my aunt put Easter baskets on the patio table on her porch for my cousins and their husbands/kids....baskets disappeared off of my aunt's table and mysteriously reappeared in the hands of the neighbor lady's kids. Neighbor lady let them do it, and pretty much let the kids flaunt that fact the entire day.

The neighbor lady is a whackjob. Back when she lived in the neighborhood the first time around, she was allowing her two dogs to run loose every night. (against city regulations and having 2 dogs is against our homeowners association) The dogs broke into my aunts house TWICE and attacked my aunt's pug. Those dogs are the reason my aunt's dog was put to sleep last year. She'd been injured in both attacks, and was having serious back and spine problems that were a result of the two attacks from those dogs when my aunt had her put to sleep. Poor Pudge...she was a great pug.

When those dogs attacked Pudge, and my aunt said something to crazy neighbor lady, she told my aunt "well, they must have been trying to **** your dog." and basically laughed about it. Didnt apologize for Pudge being injured, or the mess the dogs made of my aunts house. (they always seemed to do it on rainy days, after the dogs had been running around in the mud of the pond behind my aunt's house) This lady seems to be a narccisistic sociopath.

My dad and I are going back to Costco tonight and getting another flower pot arrangement for my mom. This time we're putting it in the front yard and will be checking everyday to see if it wanders off like the other one did. I might actually put it where I can see it from the front room, and will sit and watch out the window. (we have tinted windows, cant see in during the day)

I'm really peeved that the first flower pot got stolen. It's just irritating that people will do that. It looked really nice too.

I miss our old security system. (the big dog in my avatar) TinyMonsters was a great security system. Worked cheap and was a great guard dog. I was never scared when he was alive. I really miss the security that we got from him.

I dont miss the drool or the gaseous emissions that he produced tho. (he was a stinky boy!) People left our yard alone more often back when he was alive.

I wish I'd had a necropsy done on him when he died. I'd like to know for sure if he'd been poisoned by the neighbor, (or someone else. I never had proof of the neighbor trying anything) or if he was killed by the Chinese dog food. (if it was the Chinese dog food, it was almost a year before people started to notice that dogs were dying from the food)

I did have the vet do a blood test on Tiny to see if he'd been poisoned by antifreeze. Vet didnt find anything, but crazy neighbor lady is a paramedic...she has access to meds that could easily kill a dog and be undetectable. I'll never know if it was her tho. Just have the suspicions, since a few days after Tiny died, my aunt found a pristine looking hot dog on her patio...she thinks that might have been a trap for her dog. (neighbor lady thought that we were the ones that called the humane society on her for mistreating her own dogs....we did actually call the HS. She was abusing her dogs)

Sorry, Erin...scary!

Put a big pair of lumberjack boots on your porch with a bunch of spent shell casings scattered around.

Maybe a sign...."No Trespassing, *Survivors* will be prosecuted"

YOU KNOW THIS IS WHY I LIKE DOGS MORE THAN PEOPLE MOST OF THE TIME!!!!
I am so sorry about your dog. I would have called the HS on crazy neighbor lady too. I can't stand to see any animal abused.

My aunt called me this afternoon and said that she didnt think this neighbor lady stole the flower pot. I dont think she did either now, but she's always the first suspect when something goes missing. She wasnt home during the time that we think the flowers disappeared.

I'm betting it was either one of the kids that walks home and cuts thru our yard that took it (they've been seen stealing stuff before), or it got up and walked away on it's own.

and now I'm off to see if I can get the numbing stuff the dentist put in my mouth to finish the root canal to wear off quicker...hate this stuff!
