Default Nice Mother's Day

I had a nice Mother's Day. I just wanted to share...

I had been wanting to go to the Desert Botanical Gardens for months. The renown glass artist, Chihuly http://www.chihuly.com/, set up there and his work is amazing. Take a look, that first piece...DH took a picture of me in front of it, I am hoping to put it in my pictures here.

DD came in from college for the morning walk through the desert gardens. Crazy desert plants. The Garden was first created in 1938 so you can image the size of some cacti. Then all the crazy colorful glass. I cannot figure out how he puts it together and why it does not fall apart in the wind!

It was HOT, too hot. We went from shade to shade. Must have been 10 degrees cooler in the shade.

But this artist is amazing. This was the second time I had seen his work. I was going to buy a piece for my brother's wedding until I found out that I could not afford a broken piece of glass!

Final stop there was a butterfly exhibit. It was a huge tent like structure. Inside was cooler with water in a fountain of gold fish, a little waterfall. Lots of plants all flowering. And literally hundreds of butterflies. They gave a placard of 9 different kinds and just sitting/standing, all of them landed on flowers or flew by. Striped ones and orange ones. Little and big. A cool mist. Totally enchanting.

Then off to lunch at the Sugar Bowl. It is an ice cream parlor. Eat a little sandwich and save room for ice cream. We try to eat healthy. I cannot remember when we last had ice cream. DD had mint chocolate chip. DH and I split a banana split. Totally decadent, really good.

That's it. Day is not over but Mother's Day is done. I once did laundry on Mother's Day. This was a little better than that!

Did anyone else have a good morning?

That does sound like a great day! My DH had to go into work to straighten out a problem, so my DS and I went to lunch at a great Italian Restaurant. We then just ran a few errands and had a great day together, before I dropped him off at his apmt.

Now, I'm just sitting here w/my feet up, the doxie's squeezed in beside me and the sun's shining in the big window. I love Spring.

Happy Mother's Day Cin and also to everyone else.

Thanks for sharing your day w/us.

Oh, and DH isn't getting off that easy; he's taking tomorrow off and is planning on taking me out to lunch.

Happy MD to you too, DM.

I am pretty easy to please. I just like having another day besides my birthday to honor me!!!

I was thinking about when I was young. My dad died when I was only 4 so Mother's Day was left to us kids. I do not remember much other than giving her burnt eggs, burnt toast, and orange juice.

I would make a card. She kept one and when she passed, I found it and have it now. She was a great mom.

I had a nice day with my boys. They took me out to lunch then we bought flowers to plant in two pots that I will set on my porch.

We came home and fixed the pots and are now admiring them. They look so pretty - red and yellow flowers. Hopefully the birds will leave them alone!

We're just waiting for AFV to come on television. I love watching that on Sunday nights. End the week with a laugh.

I hope everyone else had a nice day.

Sounds great all around, Cyn! Excellent!

Hey, since you don't want to do your laundry today, wanna do mine instead?

The boys cooked steaks for me and cleaned up everything.

Good to hear your day was great!

Pssst, I hear Cindy wears camo thongs! Ask DM. Good luck.

DD and Grands came over and brought me flowers. My SSon & DIL sent me flowers from NC and the other SSon called. I have such great Kids. DD and I polished off a bottle of Asti to celebrate our special Day.

Happy your day was so nice, Cyn..
