Thanks for all the ideas, Sandy! I've got this thread saved on my desktop in a file along with lots of things I've looked up online. When we get down to the actual planning, it'll be easy to pull up ideas.

I've read some about both the Chicago City pass and the GoChicago Card. Not sure on prices for the Go Chicago Card. Any suggestions about the differences between the two, and which is best?

I never used them Faith. We usually just go and see what we can while we can. We like being free to do what we want when we want. LOL Hopefully someone will come and give you suggestions.

I've not been to many States, but I have been to Chicago and I instantly loved it.
I'd go again.. a dozen times! People were super friendly there too.

Hoping to make this fun, but affordable. We are considering attending a Blue Man Group show, if I can talk DH into the cost. Sounds like he might go for the idea. Wondering if anyone knows how to access discounts or promotions for this? Will probably also do the architechtural boat tour (the $12.95 one -- some cost over $100!). And, some downtown stuff -- museums, etc. Will probably try to figure out public transportation. Also, still wondering about the Chicago City pass and the GoChicago Card. Not sure on prices for the Go Chicago Card. Any suggestions about the differences between the two, and which is best? Hoping to Priceline some airfares and hotels. Possibly late Sept. or early October. Thanks so much for all the info you've already provided! ~ Faith

Leaving early tomorrow morning. Plan to visit a church/intentional community called Reba Place, go on a SkyLine Boat Tour, to the Museum of Science and Industry, the Lincoln Park Zoo, Shedd Aquarium, go to a Blue Man Group show, and visit 1 or 2 friends. Really looking forward to it! Might try to fit a few other things in, but . . ., maybe not. Need to get my naps in, too. There's too much to do to do everything. Other possibiiities include Grant Park and the Chicago Cultural Center. ~ Faith

If I could go to Chicago again.......I lived in a Western Suburb until I was in college, you can torture me, but I will not divulge how long ago that was--ROFL.
Enjoy your trip!!! I think you will very glad you went and your DH will find himself enjoying it more than he thought he would. My good wishes just hopped in your suitcase, they aren't very heavy. Can't wait to hear about the trip when you get back. lifesaver54 Don't forget Jake and Elroy--the Blues Brothers bleed Chicago. |
