Default Is so good to have DD19 home for the summer.

Really missed her when she was gone last year. She'll be in and out this summer, too, often counselling at camp, etc.

But, tonight she had a brief swim party (before they got lighteninged out), and now her and her friends are in the family room watching a video. Just like old times.

I wish they didn't have to grow up and move away.

I know just how you feel Faith. My ds19 came home two weeks ago. He
and his friends have been here alot. I love it! Only the food bill just
got a bit higher. I told my ds5..."dont you dare grow up!"...He just
gave me the blank stare lol.

s Enjoy your time together!!!

Glad to hear that your DD is home with you Faith and that you are spending some quality time with her!!

I hope you continue having a nice time with her and that you make lots of happy memories that you can reflect on when she is gone!

Take care of yourself

Thanks, Ali.

One cool thing that she did is, she decide that for my birthday gift last month, she would offer to cook 3x per week during the weeks she is home. (She just got home 2 weeks ago, and we've been gone some of those evenings, and she left today to counsel at a summer camp.)

The catch is that I have to help her, because she wants to learn how to cook. So, Friday, she made meatloaf and mashed potatoes and green bean casserole. All of her growing up years, she was never around during meal-making time, because she was always at swim practice. So, it will be fun to do that with her.

We might rent some videos when she's home next weekend. It's good to find some fun things to do with her. Age 18 was a tough her for us to get along, as she went through "senioritis" and the "Mom, I'm a grown-up" thing in a pretty big way, even though she was still in HS and living at home.

We were able to have a pretty good phone relationship while she was gone from home last year, and I am hopeful that that will continue while she is home during parts of this summer, before she spreads her wings and flies again this fall when she leaves for college, more than 900 miles away.

I'm always impressed with your posts. It sounds like you have a good relationship with your mom.

~ Faith
