Sorry to hear about your Grandma:(. You have had it rough lately, Take care of yourself , okay?:hug::hug: |
In an old clock that was a wedding present to my Mom, the door in back opens and in their is my Mom'sand my Dad's rings. They are both passed away now, my Dad had kept it when Mom died, but when he remarried he gave me both. Mom's wedding band and his both have loving inscriptions inside them and I treasure both.My brother (he's passed on now also) called me keeper of the flame.

I know what my Grandma would have said if it was her ring. She wouldn't have wanted it buried - that would have been a waste of good jewelry! Wear it and remember her in the good times. I think it was a gift of comfort to you and it was meant to be yours.

Mom didn't want it to get lost if anything happened to her, and she gave it to dd on her 18th Bday. Joelle, I'm sure your granmda would be glad it means so much to you. Sorry for your loss, but I do hope that ring brings a bit of comfort. |
I have instructed my family the same way. Dont leave it for some funeral home worker to take home with them at the last moment, or to rot in the ground. The memories will live on in those peices because they will know the stories behind them.

I'm sorry for your loss.
I agree with the others. Grandmas are wonderful and special, and you are probably meant to keep the ring. And I'm sure your grandma wouldn't want you feeling guilty for not making a trip that could make you ill. In my experience, nothing hurts Grandmas more than seeing you sick! You can honor her in your own way, like planting a pretty tree for her, or making a donation in her name to a charity that she would like. Guilt sucks, and I hope you can find a way to make it go away soon, especially while you grieve. I'm wishing all the best to you! |
