Default My good deed for the day ...

I have a funny story that happened to me last night ...

I went to a local grocery store, which has a large garden shop on the ground floor. Usually there is a teller there, but I guess at night they expect you to take the things upstairs to pay for them. I ran into a lady, who barely spoke English, and she was asking "how to pay". I tried to explain, in the best punjabi I could muster.

I went upstairs to pay, but after standing in the line-up at customer service (with no one behind me and two cashiers), the ladies told me I couldn't pay there, and I would have to take it to the tills. The line-up was even bigger there, so I walked out of the store and put the plants back.

I ran into the older lady again, and she tried to ask me in 1/2 English why I was bringing them back. I gestured that the line-up was too long. She then asked me for a ride ... and I decided at that moment that I shouldn't do it. However, as I was driving away, my daughter and her little friend told me that I should have driven "the old lady".

I turned around and went back, and rolled open the window to see if she needed a ride. She was thrilled and came and put a bunch of bags in the back with the kids. She motions that she will be right back, and goes back into the garden shop. She comes out with a huge plant, and puts it at her feet in the car.

I said "you paid for that, right?", as we started to drive off, and she giggles and says "no".

I couldn't believe it, I just helped some senior citizen rip off the store!!! The kids and I were too shocked to even talk all the way home.

So much for a good deed.

Cherie

ROFLMAO! So much for your good deed. Before I got to the end, I thought you were going to say she got you the plant to say thank you for the ride.

Was she yelling "GUN IT" when she hopped in?

Too funny.

I keep picturing the Ikea commercial where the lady is running towards her car (where her DH is sitting) yelling "Start the car!" "Start the car!".

I thought you were gonna say she lifted a plant for you! It's the least she could of done! (Just kidding)

I can't believe she didn't get you anything!!!!!! You could be arrested as an accessory too, right? Should have gotten something. I'm meeting Bets for dinner, now I hope she and her SO don't dine and dash!!! 8-) DS yelled at me for dining with someone I met on the Internet which I always talk to him about and HE must never do. (I've met Bets before, she's OK. Plus we'll be at a public place!!8-)

This is why they say truth is stranger than fiction. Funnier too.
