Default Some inspirational bible passages?

Hi, it's me rambling on about religion again. sorry.

Does anyone have any references for nice bible passages that show you the way, or are inspirational to you? I did have an old gideons bible that had a reading per day etc but i lost it. I now have a big book and don't know where to start dipping into it.

I would start with the Gospel of John. Then maybe Psalms. That's my suggestion!

I'm quite fond of Philippians 4:13.

I love to read everything by Paul, his letters are great.

Phillipians 4:13 would be my choice also. When I am having to get through something that is hard this is what I do. First I say the verse in its entirety. then I resay it emphasizing the first word and the rest of the verse then emphasizing the second word and finishing the verse until I have gone through the whole verse that way. By that time I have gotten through whatever hard task I was trying to do. It goes like this. I can do all things through God who strengthens me. Then I say I(with the emphasis on I) and finsh the verse. Then I CAN do ..... Now I can DO ..... I can do ALL .... Each way seems to have a different meaning to me, like when I emphasize ALL/ There is nothing that I can't do without Gods power. So that is my life verse. Every one should have a life verse, something that you can go back to anytime you need some little boost or to remind you who God is and what He is in your life.

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
Joshua 1:9

A friend gave me this verse on a sticky note when I was going through a bad time. I've kept it in my little calendar in my purse ever since. It has given me comfort many times.

The ladies before me have given some really great ones. I also agree with reading John first as a place to start.

I hope you find the comfort you need.

I still have my Gideon's Bible, that I received in 5th grade, along with the date I accepted Christ written in it. I was inspired by the story of John Nicholas, a 13 y.o. boy who promised to read the Bible every day, which is printed at the beginning of the Bible.

I also have an extra copy (although that version does not include the story). If you'd like me to mail it to you, please feel free to send me your home address. My email address is in my profile.

Thank you all. As always, you deliver the goods.

Keep them coming.

In a couple of days I've got a story to tell about my encounter with a minister. I'm seeing him again tomorrow and will tell all over the weekend...

Pud, I look forward to reading your story.

If you still need a daily reading guide.. you can find one online at Gideons International web site.
