If it's her first baby she should be safe....they generally take their time being born. How far away is she going? My first one took his time.......almost 24 hours from the time I arrived at the hospital to the time he was born. But, all babies are different so you can't really rely on having an abundance of time. Does she know what sex the baby is yet? Please let us know when he or she arrives! And I guess I don't even have to tell you to get pics!

Thanks all, I'll pass along your recommendations to Gina.
How is it I've had 4 children and never heard about what Earl suggested and Deji explained? Thanks, Taffy, I wanted to smack Earl myself but didn't dare! I think Sally deserves a smack, too! Kitty, it's a boy! His name will be Payton/Peyton (not sure which). I don't know if they keep changing it, or if I just keep forgetting, lol!

What we were told, back in the stone age, was to walk up and down a flight of stairs. Do this holding on to the banister with one hand and have someone hold your other hand so you don't fall going up or down.
I had my DH walk with me. I figured he could do something to be part of this big belly walk. It also helps as an exercise for that area to help dilate you. Just have her be very careful if she tries this. Better to exercise vertical than horizontal, IMO. or maybe not. I did hear the other way works too, like Dejibo said, but a bit positional awkward. I stayed vertical. I wish your daughter a short and easy birth process, and wonderful health to both her and her new baby son, when he is ready to make his appearance that is. She can do a lot of walking too.

Dejibo is quite correct in her instructions Twink. All those hormones the body produces are there for a reason, and remember there were no OTC remedies way back in olden times. Natural means was all they had.
Has she finished "nesting" yet? Another of natures way of preparing for the new arrival. Birds get their nests ready before the eggs are laid, hence the name. As humans, we tend to achieve the same thing by cleaning house! Here's a link to a web site dedicated to natural ways of bringing on labour. http://www.babycenter.com.au/pregnan...bringonlabour/ Curries and pineapple are mentioned along with other things. I hadn't heard of either of those to help you get going......and blowing up balloons. Who'd have thought that?

Please pass on our best wishes to your daughter and son-in-law, Twink! I hope everything goes well with the birth and can't wait to see the pictures when he has been born!
My Cousion had a baby boy earlier this year and she went 10 days over her due date. The midwife told her to eat lots of hot curry and also walk up and down the street backwards and forth many times as that can help. It didn't work for her and she ended up having to be unduced after she went 10 days over her due date. Both my cousion and baby (Alfie) are doing well now! Alfie is a lot longer than you'd expect seeing as though he's only 6 months old - guess you can tell he was late! I was a late baby also!! My mum went 9 days past her due date with me I think - I should have been born on the 23rd January but was born on the 2nd February lol!! Please give your daughter a big hug from us and hope to hear that your darling grandson has arrived soon!

Sex is one way. When a woman has an orgasm it mimics a contraction. Just saying.
Castor oil. My MIL said they gave her that when she had a baby. I tried it. Jim tried to sneak it in my Koolaid. Blech. I lifted weights and did jumping jacks, road in the back of a pick up, and walked. The ONLY thing that worked and yes, I tried all of these suggestions, was walking. I walked and walked and walked. I even had a trail in the house for walking. Finally I went to the hospital and walked the floors and stairs. The er doc said to walk and drink nothing. It worked. I was dilated 4 cm's for over a month. It was TIME. lol Good luck and tell her I hope that boy comes out soon.

walking is great! it snuggles the baby down in tight against that cervix, and helps put pressure on it to thin out, and open up!
60ml of Castor oil would help, but tastes like the nastiest stuff on earth. its really gross. Tell her to go have a good romp and play with her hubby, and hopefully that will trigger Jr to give up that room. Stubborn lil cookie huh?
