We only recently discovered Nathan's while at Coney Island in N.Y. And I understand that you can buy them at Krogers.

I always make sure to get kosher doggies. That way they are lip free. I know most cheap old hot dogs contain many of the parts, but kosher doggies are a step up. Its so rare that we eat processed anything. I think the DH was happy for a long time.

Default Wieners!

Kitty,
I thought the line was "everyone would be in love with me" also.

Speaking of wieners, I had the good luck to have one of my absolute favorite "hot dogs" yesterday.
I grew up in the anthracite coal region of Pennsylvania and in the town of Shamokin, there is a dinky, dingy little restaurant called "Coney Island Lunch"

They only serve hot dogs & hamburgers BUT they are amazing.

The dogs are grilled and served on a steamed roll, they slop yellow mustard on the dog , add their 'coney sauce' some type of chili-like concoction made from a "secret" recipe, then pack raw onions onto the whole thing.

They have been in business sine I can remember, the restaurant still has marble topped tables and I doubt the place has been painted since the late 50s!!

They are open until 2am and it is fun to try and get IN the door at 1am on a Friday or Saturday.

I actually had a double treat as I was able to have dinner with my little sister, who I don't see enough of.

When eating a 'coney' I could care less what is actually 'in' the wiener.....moose lips be damned.

We are Famous Nathan’s hot dog people, but I don’t like the way Famous Nathan’s restaurants cook them. I like my hotdogs with a little searing on the outside; either from a real fire, or a nice hot frypan. I think at the Famous Nathan’s restaurants steam them. Sigh. Such a waste of good Tube Steak.

hot dogs a big nutritional no-no. Way too much salt. Bad, bad.

Just call me a stick-in-the-mud!

Go for it, Earl, one wienie to another.

My childhood taste for all hot dogs ended abruptly while working at a campground during my college summers. People were always inviting me to dinner at their campsites and it was always... ack! By the end of my first summer there, hot dogs became, and have remained, on my appetite's doo-doo list.

Upton Sinclair and later, Fast Food Nation didn't help either!
