Default Potty Patch.

Not for me (although it's an idea ), but, for my Doggy. Does anyone have one for their dog? Does it work? Do they use it?

Since my ramp was built in my garage, DDog, doesn't always make it down that long ramp and out his doggy door. He has piddled and poohed on my ramp and on the the patio..

DD cleans it up when she comes on Sunday, poor thing. It's a nasty job and I'd love to save her the trouble, if I can.

Whatta ya think?

I just saw the advertisement last night and looked like a good idea.

We used the disposable piddle pads for our puppy when we were in transition moving from house to apartment (upstairs) to new house.

They worked great but it would get expensive using them all the time.

You can teach a dog to go potty on command and in a specific spot.

I did it with my bouvier that I had until he died 3yrs ago. He would go on command, we had him trained to use a certain spot, but after we moved, we just ended up letting him use the entire yard. We'd just use a scooper to pick everything up later.

It's a heck of a lot easier teaching a dog to potty on command when they're still a puppy, once they're older, it'll be a lot more difficult to train them to go in a specific spot and on command.

How old is the dog?

Wow, potty on command, really? I can't even go on command ..Our potty pad is called "Rochester Post-Bulletin", set out in a discrete area for emergency purposes (the dog's, not mine). I've seen the commercials for the one you're talking about, and it looks like it might just work..Let me know if you get one & how it works!

My cousin's fur baby is elderly and has night accidents. She's been putting newborn sized baby nappies on her dog at night for a while now, and they've saved her many clean ups.

I've not seen ones made just for dogs here yet.

-How old is your dog?
-Previously was he able to get down stairs and out doggy door without accidents?
-Could he possibly be having a doggy psychological reaction to chair and ramp. ?

I certainly don't know, our seven month old puppy came from shelter pre-trained and I have never trained a dog. In winter if snow gets high he piddles on deck, not wanting to go farther in fairly deep snow, but is at least outside and onto snow.

Friend who previously had no dog-training problems lost their well-behaved old dog, got a very different breed and type of dog whose behavior made them seek a "dog whisperer".

I also had trained my doggie a mini schunauzer to go on command, or go in a certain spot. I brought in a raised bed with dirt, and a bush on it. The cats LOVED it! and the dog had a lil spot to go pee if we were not back in time. It was 3x3 and sat in the back end of the family room. I just had to make sure it had water. Instant park.

I hope you find a way to help the lil thing. Is it the poodle in the avatar?

here is aversion of the patch we used to use at the vets (for dogs who could not go out in runs due to isolation issues):

get a boot tray or large sweater box (plastic type, make sure it is low in height) and put indoor/outdoor "grass" style carpet in it. It will contain the liquids and solids. You just hose off and spray with cleaner/disinfectant (we also used to spray with Lysol).

The pooch potty patch is essentially the same thing, but costs more. A welcome mat (the fake grass with a daisy in corner, which we ripped off) fits a boot tray very well. Tray and welcome mat cost about 15 bucks and had no s/h costs

Dej, yes, it's the doggy in my Avatar, but not a poodle...a Shih tzu with a puppy cut..

He is about 10 years old and yes he does still not like the new ramp, but he knows how to go down the ramp and out the doggy door to the yard and has done it many times.. At night he is just lazy or afraid of the dark or rain or whatever..

Thanks for the suggestions all.
