Chat

please let's keep this thread open by not becoming personal any further.

txbatman, telling someone that they "close their mind" in such a curt manner IS becoming personal. Making up one's mind doesnt mean it is "closed". Extrapolating what someone says and putting one's own spin on it sure does come across as personal

it really would be most helpful if we could for once have a thread like this run with everyone able to express their opposing views on the subject without the personal negatives

thanks

Aarcyn, if you were offended by what I said, I am sorry. I don't mean offense by it. I took your post as saying to me that anything I posted, regardless of how factual would be ignored by you and that you felt I was just disagreeing with you for the sake of arguing. I would hope that after 11 pages of passionate discussion, nobody would assume anybody was here just for the fun of arguing, but that we all have valid points to make and passionate opinions we hold.

I'm talking about an American's right for quality healthcare.

peace out for now, I'll be off line for a while but will be back....
I don't disagree and will try not to get too far ranging in the future discussion...but I can't help looking at the whole "everybody is entitled to the best and government should subsidize it" argument and ponder how far and wide it should, could, and/or will be applied.

I know you never mean to get personal. You write a lot and I do not have the energy to go point by point to refute your position. It is not ignoring, it was just letting your points stand unchallenged.

But this is off topic...

Way off topic . Sal's original post was asking for opinions about the future of research under a universal program:

We did discuss this a bit and I have come to the hope that there will still be devoted Docs and Researchers out there, who are only interested in the fame of being the person who finds the cure.

I wonder how much money Jonas Salk made from his discoveries?....and then he died..

you hear so many arguements both pro and con.

Some say that a scientist no matter what country he is from would love to step forward and claim the cure to MS, Cancer, ALS, alzhiemers...(fill in the disease of your choice) and they are making some break through by finding the genes that are responsible for unlocking, or locking the system into certain diseases. Did you know that they are doing research on kids with progeria? They think they have found the gene that gets turned on to make them age super fast, and are trying to slow it. (talk about the fountain of youth if they do!)

Some folks say there are already cures for MS, cancer, ALS and so forth, but its against the financial interest of the big pharma companies to release it, so as soon as they hear about it, they lock it up, or dump billions of dollars upon it to disprove it. Many say LDN is hog wash, and nothing can cure everything from MS to IBS and so forth, yet we have many members sitting right here, who say since they laid down their MS needle, and picked up the LDN, they are walking, talking, and participating in their own lives again. they have walked away from wheel chairs, and are now driving cars instead.

We see some evidence of sillyness like the Monsanto corp fighting long and hard to disprove so many nutritional and supplimental cures out there, and are working hard to make them appear to be nothing more than fairy tales. Who knew how smart Grandma was when she made you take cod liver oil? now folks clamour for the stuff, and we are finding that LACK of Vit D is the root cause or the beginings of so many diseases. My MS MD says if nothing else, take Cod Liver oil. The vit D is what you seek. Even Dr. Oz says the same thing. I think we are going to find that a low Vit D level IS the trigger that starts so many of these auto immune diseases. it makes us just vunerable enough to let the door open.

Many food companies are fighting hard to not show folks that using Raw diets, even for short periods of time can be quite beneficial for the human body when in crisis. They want everything cooked and stored in brine, and rolled in MSG so it can sit on the shelf for 50 years and not spoil. Given a choice of a fresh ear of corn from the corner farm, or a can of corn that the niblet are bobbing in a bath of salts, sugars, and MSGs, which would you chose?

How many who are on LDN have been told that its bull hockey? How many who want LDN have been told its quackery and their MD wont prescribe it? How many would give it a try if their MD suggested it, and gave you a script and sent you to the local pharmacy? I know if I wasnt taking one of my pills, I would be first in line. I guess you can tell I am a naturalist, and believe that many of our answers can be found in our diets, and how many chemicals we eat everyday. Now, before you jump on me, I dont eat anything that is processed, and I eat as much as possible straight from the farm, and have done this for years, and YES, I still have MS. I am just trying to give my body a fighting chance.

Will the big pharma's still do R&D? yep! you betcha. there is mucho profits in it, even if a big government policy gets passed. Even if no policy gets passed. They have funding from many many sources, and our insurance companies and our pricing structures on many drugs, and proceedures are hiked up to provide extra, but should those prices be lowered, God never closes a door unless he opens a window.

I do hope they start more honest R&D with natural sources. not just chemically manipulated ones. but thats just me.

Instead of the bumbling Congress, who I believe have a conflict of interest, I'd like to see a group of Doctors/Scientists, throw in an Economist, Pharmacist and just some good minded, smart Folks, to come up with a workable and affordable Plan..
