Ok, so I am home from my trip. I got home on Thursday afternoon after 4,586 miles, 11 states, 26 days and a wonderful vacation.
Last night (Friday) I was getting ready for bed and Morgan started barking and going crazy, I wondered what he was barking about because he rarely barks. I went out to the living room and by my back door, where I kept my outside patio cushions was A RATTLESNAKE!!! I freaked out and luckily Morgan was also freaked. he was close to me and a good 7 feet from the snake so I grabbed him by the collar and called 911 "I am not sure if this is an emergency but I have a rattlesnake in my house" the 911 operator said "yep, that's an emergency, stay clear from it and we'll be right out. About 5 min later the cops showed up and animal control wasn't far behind them. they captured the snake with their contraption and took it away. the cops then did me a HUGE favor and checked every nook and cranny of my house, closets and under furniture for any possible friends of the snake. They told me snakes were independent and didn't usually travel in pairs or groups, this was likely alone. They also said since I was gone for a month, and the A/C was turned off, it could have been here for the whole time. I am not sure how he got in but I'm glad he's gone. Thank God Morgan didn't try to attack or play with it. Yikes. P.S. I called AMN this morning and told her about it and she is upset I didn't get a picture, pardon me but I didn't think of it. lol.

That would be scary. Glad you got it taken care of. It would be interesting to find out how it got inside your house.

They'd have been treating me after they captured the snake! I'd probably have had a heart attack. And....I'd have to move. No doubt about it. Snake in the house....gotta move. I'm that scared of them!
I'm so glad your dog didn't try to attack it. That might have been a really bad situation. I hope you have some boots to walk around in for the next year or so.

Cool! I like snakes!! (ok, yeah, I am weird)
Altho, I dont like poisonous ones. I prefer to see the poisonous ones at the zoo, when the snakes are behind a big pane of unbreakable glass. When I was in South Dakota on a vacation a few years ago, we kept seeing signs warning us of rattlesnakes. First one of those signs was at a really pretty rest stop that my boyfriend and I stopped at to look at some really pretty scenery. (they'd made a big park area around the Missouri river. It was really pretty there) We'd walked past the "beware of rattlesnake" sign on the way to the outlook area to look at the river, and were walking back towards the building that had the bathrooms, when we heard the rattle It was loud, but we couldnt see where it was, so we walked rather quickly away from the sound. On the way home, thru Western Nebraska, we stopped at Chimney Rock, and the gift shop there had a "beware of rattlesnakes" sign. My boyfriend bought it for me. I framed it, and have it hanging on the side of my computer armoire.
