I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas for an alternative to the brace that Dr Newkirk has been in the process of designing for quite some time. Has anyone worn or devised a brace that could be used as an alternative? Might taping the shoulder provide the same results? I see that Towelhorse mentioned a brace of some sort but I haven't been able to visualize how it works.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for? sorry the link ended up in the title. Not good at this. But if you go to page 2 the title is arm brace in the subject and all kinds of info there.
Hope this helps, G-Mom2 |

Thanks G-Mom2. This might be helpful for some post surgery or for frozen shoulder. But the TOS brace I'm talking about is designed to correct the posture; it corrects for the rounded shoulders I think.

the one he refers to is still not available yet. I don't expect it will be ever or for a very long time. I'm looking for an alternative to see if I could find something that could relieve either the pec minor or scalenes.

woke up with pinky pain similar to broken bone. possible sleep walking injury.
doc buddy taped pinky to ringfinger. this was not good enuf. doc diagnosed as a sprain. to me that would be a best case scenario diagnosis since he is not even considering it could be the tos in his 5 minute chat. i got 2 dr appt cards and folded lengthwise, taped them shut. cut a piece of foam from a blouse shoulder pad and taped this to cardboard. taped the pinky and ring finger to this board. over this put my wrist brace. typing is now touch on left and hunt and peck with a pen on the right. but i am no longer about to cry from the pain. if medicine cannot help us we must help ourselves. i am quite sure an appropriate splint exists, too bad they use the cheap and ineffective approach. i thank my creator she gave me creativity, and i pray she gives it to doctors. |

Well, ladies, I've found the "posture police."
![]() I brought a long dressing mirror to the side of my workstation. I catch a glimpse of my bad posture and I'm immediately trying to straight up and correct my posture. I'm stronger now so I can hold up longer. I've also brought two more balls to use in my chair for my back. one for my low back and sacral area. one midback and one at my scapulas. this is working. I'm sucking my gut in... as much as I can. (balls can be aggravating sometimes ![]() I can use Kinesio tape to pull my shoulders back. that helps. As far as a brace, so far all that I've seen would be intolerable. Not seen the ones you all are mentioning.

Hi
For me, I find the tape is great but it comes off after about a week and my physio has to put it on for me. So, her latest idea is a special kind of shoulder support brace made by NeoG - I'm guessing it would be available in US as well. I can't put the web link in as apparently not made enough previous posts but easy to find by google, then choose shoulder support - you have to pick whether right or left arm. Takes a bit of getting used to and far more obvious than tape - but it does seem to support my shoulder and improve my posture. Might be worth a try? Jenny |
