Default Any pillow recommendations

Can anyone recommend a pillow that will help with TOS? I'm really looking for one that would help with shoulder and neck problems.

i have to sleep on my side, i use a fluffy one under my head, one between knees, and a giant one to drape the top arm over; and for some strange rib problem i have to sleep on the bad side or the ribs hurt.

when i can't lay on the bad side i make a wedge of pillows and sleep on my back, with a pillow under each arm. had to do this when i broke my shoulder.

i tried sleeping in a recliner. it does not work for me but it works for some.

Are you a side sleeper, back or stomach?

the larger stores have a good variety of pillows and some are labeled for those positions.

I found the memory type foam contoured pillows to be best for me.
they usually have small , medium & large so which ever fits your body/neck/shoulder size is the best for you.

some liked the rice hull?? or beany beads type pillows.

I need a quiet pillow myself
those hulls and beads are too noisy for me

I had a nest of pillows and balls, in several places. Now I'm in a recliner with pillows and balls and a regular, laying on my side again, bed with king size pillows for my knees and arms to hug and one for my back, a soft mushy one right now.

These neck bone (like a bowtie) pillows were wonderful. I wore several of them out. Wal-Mart did carry them. If I ran across them, I'd buy two right now, becaues they're that versitle.

Balls are also good under pillows if you can't tolerate them to well at first.

The memory foam didn't work for me. to stiff the next morning.

Just for relaxing or resting. The Miracle Balls works wonders on the right and left side of my neck while I'm reclining. Also use at scapulas and shoulder blades. On the left and right side of the neck position, that seems to also press down on the top of my shoulders too. Would do side to side head bends to help press shoulders down. you know that retracting neck feeling, turtle neckin' I hate that shortened neck contracture/spasm thingy, don't you all?

I needed a pillows. Thick ones, flat ones, long ones, square ones. I used them under my arms too. I also liked oversized tennis balls (Wal-Mart) to support my arms when I was nesting at that 45 degree angle position. (seemed to be most comfortable for arms and back)

billy- I sleep with a microbead pillow. Its worked well for me for about 3 years now!! What I like about it is the versatility- side or back sleep- I'm all over the place and this works with me.

Jo- I guess I can't recommend this for you- it makes a little bit of a sound... not quite crunchy like a buckwheat- but a sound nonetheless

Default Microbead sold in stores?

Does any store sell microbead pillows? I tried Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and they didn't have any.

when i sleep propped up the head lolls side to side unless i use one of the horseshoe pillows with beads, and i got mine in walmart where they have the suitcases. they make some for kids too that are animal shapes. also, if you ever have to wear a sling, i used the horseshoe pillow to keep the sling away from my neck and collar bone.

Default Sleeping flat

I said yeah right when 2 physicans said when u have TOS u should sleep flat so the cervicle, shoulders, arms are flat, not bent or constricted. It does work however, there are 8 pillows on my bed just for sleeping. a bolster under the knees, down pillows under my arms & one on each side so i dont roll over. If u noticed....when u wake up on your worst side the pain & cramping stays with u all day & beyond.

Victoria has a pillow for her neck she highly recommends. I personally cannot lay on a cervicle pillow as it compresses on the hub of my nervous system. I do use one for driving. I fear the worst thing would be if someone hit me from behind & it caused a whiplash of my cervicle making pain that much more unrelenting after a truck pulled out in front of me Valentines day 2005. My daughter just brought me back a cute one from Senior Frogs, Puerta Vallarta. I also use a pillow when I'm in the passenger side underneath the shoulder seat belt to protect the BP. Am I neurotic, no just precautionary that the unexpected could happen on the SO CAL fwys & crazy drivers hitting me & crushing the BP more so.

I sleep with a buckwheat pillow. It is a lot like microbead pillows. They are very comfortable. They last longer than microbead pillows. I cannot live without mine. For driving I use a nursing pillow.
