Default Antibiotics - Any effects on you???

Hi kids,

Last month I was put on a "Z pack" (zithromax) and AGAIN I noticed a considerable decrease in pain and I was able to have much more movement than without. Then a few days after finishing the med, I slowly lost that extra movement and the Bpain filled in, and actually I went into a total flare stage where my pain is so high, I can't sleep for days, or for very long, and my body is sweating so much I have to change PJs several times a day, as well as change my bed and/or put down towels in the middle of the night on my bed so I can stay in my bed...

The one symptom that has seemed to have eased off is that horrid breathing problem where my rib cage would get so hard, and my upper abdomen would get so hard, and then it felt like I had to make myself breathe, or it would stop. It was a horrible feeling. (I think it was autonomic neuropathy.)

But I've been using my SOMA in a plain old cream to rub it on the affected muscles / areas, and I am taking COQ10, Bs, As, Ds, (as well as a plain old vitamin pill.) And then when I can remember I use the Flaxseed oil in some orange juice, and remember to take the herb for my liver - forgot what it's called.

I am still having a terrible time with my memory. It's embarrassing, and it hurts my family sometimes when they say, "how could you not remember us talking about THAT?" Well, I have bad short term mem, so that's all I can say.

I've had some fun watching HSN and QVC, but this year, we are CARDS ONLY, absolutely NO GIFTS at all, because of all of the economic problems we all are having. This is weird, something new, but in some sense freeing, as instead of worrying about the gift for the person, we are focusing on expressing love, support and truly listening.

My creative juices are going crazy in my mind - since I can't use my hands and arms as I once had them before TOS - I think of paintings, crafts, foods I'd like to make, and I just have to accept that for now that is gone. I'd love to learn to crochet, or quilt!!! But I must let it go, and again, take self esteem that when I can talk (which isn't a lot or often) I am truly listening to the person and truly enjoying their talk and issues in their life.

I had one of those "bad days" when someone in my family disregarded my illness and was so disrespectful about me to other family members. It came back to me, of course - gossip runs fast...but that's a topic for our other thread...

I'm really curious if ANYONE has noticed any changes in their TOS with taking antibiotics. Please post if so, and what kind. My pain doc said he'd seen that himself, and that he noticed it in only certain strains of antibiotics, but he didn't have enough time to really talk it out - he said he may be doing a trial / test next year on the subject!

So what do you think???

go to the vitamin forum, and ask mrsd.....i know some ABTs have anti inflammatory properties, but not sure of which ones (or all)...it may be worth your while to investigate what is called an "antiinflammatory" diet.....good luck

So no one else has noticed this phenomenon?

My pain doctor has - that's why I wondered.

Default noticed it too tam

i have noticed this too. makes me wonder if there is some underlying diagnosis they missed. my old osteopath told me once that some of the communicable diseases that are "cured" by antibiotics actually go inside the bones and stay there indefinitely. makes you wonder.

Tam by any chance were you taking predisone too? Not sure in the Z-pac what is in it, but when I have asthma flare and on the Prednisone substansial decrease in symptoms. I actully felt 70% reduction in restriction and pain.

I did not notice last z-pac, I was just too sick and sore from the hacking,
Kept getting zinggers when I coughed.
Be well, and happy holiday's with your family.
Di
