Question

I've been skimming the TOS forum threads for just a short time now.
If anyone can suggest some old threads or links about folks who have had a rib removed for TOS and what there post surgery experiences were I'd appreciate it.
My symptoms are many. Pain and discomfort of varying levels from the front and back of the side of my neck down through the shoulder, arm, wrist, and into my pinky and ring finger.
I need to have my thoughts and opinions about this together before I visit with the surgeons again.
Thanks!

HI,

Had surgery on 12/14 but no rib removed. Scalenectomy. Happy to help in any way. Doing good after one month. Still too much swelling to tell if totally successful, but some symptoms are better.

here is one site I used when researching the surgery.
http://legalpointer.com/displaymonograph.php?MID=149

Also my doc has some information on his site www.nervemed.com

Important to choose between whether you need vascular surgeon or neuro. I had vein compression but impreoved it through PT and then had neuro do surgery.

Lot's of sites on the sticky post at the top of the TOS forum too.

Hope your search goes well and let me know if you have any questions

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Mine was wc related.Started out sprain strain cervical arm and hand.It never calmed down.I waited 18 mo for approval for surgery. No blocks .Pt didnt help only aggrivated.Testing mild bulge disk c-6/7. Doppler study pos.I had the rib resection sympathectomy and scalenectomy. Surgeon said I had anomolies cong defect.I do regret having the sympathectomy.I have TOS & RSD
I would suggest getting as many opions as you can. Have you tried botox inj or blocks? Breaking the pain cycle early can help.Mild muscle relaxers and gentle stretching.Physical therapy can help and can agrivate.Know your limit. They did cervical traction on me (ouch). And ice..
You are in the right place for help and support so many caring people.
