Please -
if you are having ongoing & continued pain -
they shouldn't be having you do any weights at all. IMO

I didn't do any weights until my pain # was a low 1-2 and that was an occasional 1-2 not a constant 1-2.

And if you are taking pain meds - those are covering up the actual true pain #'s.
so you aren't getting a accurate pain level to rate as far as PT goes and uses.

But then again each of our injury and the level of it is so different -
I just hope none are getting injured worse from incorrect PT.

I'm sure WC will 'push" for a final result & a closure of PT.

I really believe TOS is a chronic condition so it most likely won't get 'fixed" in a few sessions {or months} of PT.

As many here that have had surgery for it - still have effects from TOS- so it may rarely get "fixed".
It is a life long condition to adjust to and hopefully find the best things that work for you, to be as flare free as possible.

LOL

Smirk johann....about yoga

Hi johann

I do many differnt kinds of yoga....but mostly I do hatha yoga I incorporate my breathing with my practice have to do relaxation before and after my practice I do most poses except ones that put weight on my arms of course....lol......I have also done ashtanga yoga a very fast moving with lots of standing poses is difficult for me now.

I have had classes I used to go to 2 times a week, but now I just do my dvd's and hope for the best, but instruction at least a few classes before you do the dvd's is mostly recommended then you have a better idea of how to do the poses

hope this answers your question.....if not ask more..

love and hugs,
Victoira

Default pt attitude

Hi,
I know at my hospital the mandate for the PT treating the patient is to get them treated and home as fast as possible.....if not on my oncology ward and dying......however......they have it in thier head infact I think they are taught that they have to push people to do their physio as they will be reluctant to feel pain with the process of new muscle growth....

In our TOS case the opposite is true you should NEVER be pushed to do something that hurts it may put you into a flare or like me push u over the edge and not be pain free anymore......so don't ever do anything that hurts is what my vascular surgeon said. He told me that if anything hurts at all I am not to do it and Iam the best judge of that not the PT, OT, Nurse (even though I am one.... ) you know you best and any good PT will listen to your concerns and not push you especially if they know ANYTHING about TOS!!!

good luck,
Victoria

Oh I forgot to mention about the blood pressure readings.

I think it was Dimarie that said they take hers on the leg - due to bad readings in the arms.

Crazy Who knows.......

Just got home from my visit with the ortho surgeon. My PT did show up to meet with him. Kudos and much thanks to her. The ortho surgeon was on call for the emergency room and kept getting paged. My PT probabley spent 90 minutes of her time on her day off just to sit in on this visit.
So...ortho surgeon is still convinced the problem is NOT in my shoulder. Thinks I might have some trouble with a SLAP lesion but that it would not contribute to my pain in so many places.
Really no news to report. And what news I have may not be that good.
The ortho is refering me to an osteo who is familiar and does a lot of work with RSD/CRPS.
Not sure when my appointment is. Someone will call me.

at the socal TOS meeting we talked about how osteopaths learn about TOS early on in their education and some have had good experiences with that. Of course, hard to know when you are getting a good one...ask them what they know when you get there, get a feel for how familiar they are with TOS. maybe it will work out for you...good luck!!
