Hi precious friends it has been awhile.
I come to you in a great deal of pain. In case you have forgotten my situation I will explain it to you again. I had two lumbar surgeries, three neck surgeries and a foot surgery in a fourteen month period. It was crazy and the worst thing I could have ever done to my body, but was clueless to all of it. I just knew I was in so much pain and needed help to relieve it and fix it. Now I am in severe pain and have been on a Fentanyl patch that no longer works. I was diagnosed with TOS after the last neck surgery. I went in last Thursday June 3-2010 for a cervical Epidural and now I am in worse pain then ever before and let me tell you it was a worst before the Epidural, and now the pain is beyond that now, it hurts even typing right now. This is my fourth day after the injection and I am so much worse. Has anyone ever experienced more pain after the Epidural? I know there is soarness and they say it takes2 to 3 days for it to take effect but this is my forth day. Any advice or even understanding would be great and any ideas to relieve this pain would be a God send, thanks so much for just reading this post. I am so frustrated. I am so disappointed it has not worked praying for relief.) |

I've been having Epidurals and trigger point injections for quite a while. The last epidural I had caused me a lot of pain. It was for the area around C5 C6 disc and it felt swollen and sore for over a week. Eventually, it got better, but I never had that happen before until the last time.
I hope you feel better soon. Maybe a heating pad will give you some comfort. |

You need to call in and politely demand your rights.
You have a right to pain relief. Fentanyl patches come in different strengths, and you can change them at different times - such as every other day rather than two days...or raise the limit on that, or, give you a different medication that YOUR body responds to as a breakthrough pain until things calm down. Basically, you need to go back in and communicate more!!!!! |

Hi
So sorry you are in so much pain after all you've been through. I've got cervical, TOS, scalenes, pecs, back and leg at times to deal with. I have to say, my epidurals X3 started my recovery... and I had a loooong way to go. Accident in 2000. Epidurals in Feb and March of 2006. By the beginning of 2006 I had been to 3 different pain management doctors. Each had said, "Cervical epidurals X3." The first 2 I asked for 1 and each one said, "No, I had to commit to '3.'" When the 3rd doc said that, I said, "Give me the needle and I'll stick it in. Well, I agreed and committed to 3. The first one made me as bad as I had been. (lasted about 2 weeks) The second one made me bad but not as bad as the first. (lasted about 1 1/2.) The third one, I got relief. I walked out and I felt relief for the first time since the accident. I think it will get better and hope it's sooner than later. Just take it easy and rest. Stronger drugs may be needed right now. Try relaxation techniques, slow belly breathing or some yoga stretches and moves. Prayer is always good. I hope you do eventually get some relief from the epi. Do you know what meds they used on you? The third one was different than the 2 prior. Keep in touch with us...

I am worse then ever. The Epidural started working and I wanted to get off the Fentantyl patch. I am a non narcotic person so my doctor helped me get off it. Well the nerve pain is the worst then I have ever experienced it in my life. I desire to live with out narcotic's I do not like how they make me feel and the headaches that go with it not to mention being backed up and dealing with that pain too all the time. It is all to much and over whelming to me. It is like darned if I do and darned if I don't. I have prayed more prayers then ever. The pain is at the point where suffering is way to much. The doctor tried Ultrame but it gave me horrible headaches, and it made me so dizzy, I had the sweats and could not sleep so then he changed it to this Mobic which is a Anti Inflammatory and it is not doing a thing.
My lower back where I had two surgeries is also in so much pain, neck, shoulder, arm pit pain, and down the arms pain, that I can not sleep at night and with the lower back pain. I have tried my tens unit and I have tried cold and hot packs it makes it so much more worse that I want to scream. I take as many as four baths a day because that is where I find some comfort. I have even tried those heat hot and cold rubs and it too makes it worse. I want to be free from all of this pain I feel like no matter what with drugs I suffer and with out them I suffer. My doctor told me you know most doctors do not believe in TOS. I am like then tell me why am I in so much pain then. Thanks for listening |

I hope you feel better soon. I had injections in my shoulder and lower back and it felt great for a week. The shoulder pain has returned though with a vengence.
I hope you find relief soon. My doctor taught self-hypnosis that helps control the pain along with meds. If you live near Pennsylvania, he is a great doctor for TOS. I hope you find some relief from your pain, |
