Default Hi, question about the TOS

I'm not here much due the RSD but I have it under control.

I start PT tomorrow for the TOS, Fibro, Neck and back problems.

My question is, I was reading up on some of my records and they say I have TOS in the upper and lower brachial plexus. What does that mean? I can't find any info on it. My left side is the worst from not having surgery and I have been doing too much and have it going again.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Ada

I found this that explains it, or some of it anyway -
[ * The five roots are the five anterior rami of the spinal nerves, after they have given off their segmental supply to the muscles of the neck.

* These roots merge to form three trunks:
o "superior" or "upper" (C5-C6)
o "middle" (C7)
o "inferior" or "lower" (C8-T1)

* Each trunk then splits in two, to form six divisions:
o anterior division of the upper, middle and lower trunks
o posterior division of the upper, middle, and lower trunks

* These six divisions will regroup to become the three cords. The cords are named by their position in respect to the axillary artery.
o The posterior cord is formed from the three posterior divisions of the trunks (C5-T1)
o The lateral cord is the anterior divisions from the upper and middle trunks (C5-C7)
o The medial cord is simply a continuation of the anterior division of the lower trunk (C8-T1)

Thanks for this explanation. No doctor ever told me that. You're great

Default Thanks JoMar,

I had found that website but still couldn't understand it, I think I do now. It helped me understand why I was hurting differently then I remembered on the right side.

Had PT yesterday to work on the TOS, Fibro, neck and back problems.

I try to stay very active but I'm finding out, this is not good for me. My PTist said that my mind was telling me I could do more then my body is. Too bad they can't get together. LOL

Sounds like a good therapist.

You need to drink plenty of water after therapy, like inhale it. It helps. I promise.

Hmmm, interesting info on a subject that has confused me too! My physio says my pain is lower plexus related - i get confused as to whether all my symptoms can be put down to just the lower plexus though so need to quiz her a little more next week about that.....
