Anyone remember the most common nerve pain medications off the top of their heads , lyrica is the only one I remember being commonly used?

I was put on Lexapro for the huge grief burden to help me focus and found that it greatly reduced TOS pain. I have not had that butcher knife in my back, my cervogenic migrains are near to none.

I tried Topamax for that and it did not have any affect. I remember my dd being given doses of neurontin up to 1200 or so mg's....She had a lot of weight gain side effects.

The one thing that did help was a well placed epidural in the spine at the C5, right on the hump spot.
In a flare mode, a good prednizone can make a great help to some. I had it for asthma, and found the TOS symtoms much reduced.
PS the Lexapro, I had to titer up over weeks, the side effects of insomnia, and loss of appitite. I went from 5, a 1/2 tablet. for two weeks, the one day a 10mg and 5 mg the next. It took about 3-4 weeks to get up to 10mg. I am on maintaince of 20mg now.

If you're talking about actual NERVE pain, the usual one they prescribe is NEURONTIN. But that makes you retain water, makes you feel loopy, gain weight, etc.

I'm onTopamax for nerve pain and I don't have ANY side effects at all. I'm sure there are probably some side effects to this but I don't have them. In fact I LOST weight on Topamax ~ about 10 lbs. Most people DO lose weight on it. I had tingling, zapping, needles & pins, the feeling of water running down my legs, horrible burning, hot-poker feeling, it was awful! This TOPAMAX has taken it ALL AWAY. I don't feel any of those symptoms at ALL anymore. I take 400mg. per day, and I've taken that dosage for 9 years with no increase in dosage. This works great!

Perhaps you could ask your doc about Topamax and see what he says? I know for me it's been a life saver. God bless and take care. hugs, Lee
