Default Freak out.... called to schedule surgery

The Dr.s Office just called...... to schedule my surgery.... it was approved my the insurance company yesterday.

Dr. want to schedule for 2 weeks out... I kinda freaked out and told her I could not be ready in only 2 weeks. That could she ask what he has for 4 to 6 weeks out.

Freaking, as I knew it was going to happen sometime. I didn't think that it would be approved as they told me it would, the UR reviewed it and approved. I talked to my Attorney yesterday and she said the same, it wouldnt be approved and were looking at late dec early jan...

Im sure it's normal to have a freak out when they call....

eeek ya - that's a fast approval.

They either think it is a fast fix and close the case and/or that you really need it due to the vascular issues and again fast fix case close.

Hopefully that will be the case for you

I'm glad you asked for more time to prepare, so you can get everything ready for the recovery down time.

Thank you.

I'm glad you asked for more time as well.... to prepare, so you can get everything ready for the recovery down time. Tentatively on the schedule for the 3rd week in Oct...

Well I re read the report from the DR and the insurance, The Dr. hit on the point of how frequent my arm is turning purple, and pointed out the fact that this is a huge deterioration in my medical care, mentioning that he may need to do the stint or replace the artery, stating that 7 months ago the test did not indicate this large of a vascular issue and stated he is requesting surgery be approved ASAP.

Yes, to say the least being a single mom with this upcoming surgery I have a bit to make sure is in order before surgery as I want my down time to be a less stressful as possible, thankful my son has his learners permit for driving.

Thanks for the Hugs....

TOS Gerl:

I think you're allowed to be freaking out. Will you come back and report on your surgery and follow-up recovery? I'm curious as he would be my local surgeon.

Why is he placing a stent? Is a stent flexible enough to withstand the movement in the area? I've read varying thoughts on this.

I'm not familiar with the stent aspect, but it sounds like they deem the surgery to be a benefit to you. With your arm turning purple and such, I'm sure you would see some improvement.

I don't really understand what they needed to approve though, is this type of surgery normally not covered?

As for being prepared, definitely good thing to take a couple more weeks to get everything in order. As I have mentioned before, prepared meals are a must. After my surgery I was very limited to what I could do so being able to throw something in the microwave was good to have. Also if you aren't already, it couldn't hurt to get some multivitamins to ensure you are giving your body the much needed nutrients that it will need after the surgery.

Good luck and take care

Thanks
