I had first rib removal Wednesday, 10/15/2010, and I'm really feeling good. Not even close to the pain I was expecting! Great doctor probably makes a huge difference.

So glad to hear that. I have been so nervous about my sons upcoming surgery. I seem to only hear that the pain is very bad and and last a long time. I am glad you feel well. Please keep posting I am very interested in your progress. Hope it continues to go well.

Thats great! How are you feeling now? How long did you stay in the hospital etc? can you just spill the beans? Hope your feeling great!!
my Dr is telling me min 5 day max 10 (depending on lung complications) that just seems a lot longer than others are saying?!?!

Looking back, I would have preferred to stay in the hospital another day. My advice is to get back home as soon as you can. Rod |

My surgeon is great. I was able to schedule surgery within 2 weeks. I can't believe people have to wait for months. My doctor is just one of two who do this surgery in Dallas. He does this surgery for the baseball players of the Texas Rangers who have needed it. Go Rangers!! Please hit me with any questions, I'll be happy to answer Susanne |

My question is... What kind of insurance do you have that gets you in and out of surgery with such an amazing specialist so quickly and easily?

Right now I've got an Aetna HMO. I used to have an Aetna PPO, years ago, when I got the 3d MRI that diagnosed me. But it seems even people with PPOs are having trouble just getting that MRI anymore. I've been through a couple of different HMOs since, and it's hard to even get a simple MRI of my neck anymore, let alone any sort of help for TOS. I kind of thought everyone was in the same boat, but I guess not. I have a friend who I know has TOS, she's got a great PPO, but can't get the 3D MRI approved.
