Blank Hello, Newbie here!

Hi,

I am new to the forum, but not to TOS. I have been a visitor here for some time and am now able to participate thanks to a recently purchased voice activated system. Any one have any tips for using it more effectively??

I have enjoyed reading others posts and have been encouraged by the information and support offered here.

Thank You,

Caladium

Hi and welcome,
feel free to browse the threads here and all the forums.

I used Via Voice for awhile when I was hurting the most, many do need to use theirs full time.
nice to meet you.

Smile Hey!

Thanks for the nice welcome. Wow!! That's great!

I am using ilisten- I guess it would have helped to say that! Lol!

What is via voice? Is that for Mac or p.c. ?

Thanks again everybody,

Caladium

ViaVoice by IBM { Mac or PC}
http://www-306.ibm.com/software/voice/viavoice/

- it is very similar to Dragon Naturally Speaking.

Thanks, I'll check into that. This iListen isn't the greatest. It makes mistakes like crazy! I am have tried all of the "advanced training techniques" and it is still confusing words. I signed a letter with the customary "Love you" and it wrote "Lesbian" ??!!??

I had dragon naturally speaking before this system and it wasn't much better.

I will look into this one.

Thanks jo55.

Chat welcome

Hello caladium, nice to se you posting.
I use naturally speaking for years now. I started with the 3.0 and now have a newer version that voc rehab purchased for me.

The big tip is to train it and speak naturaly. I trained mine several hours, more then the short tutorial, and all of the options of text. The space fanatasy, JFK speech, many options they give so it is use to your voice in more then a story telling manner. We use expressions when we read taht during dictation we not use, so the more you use it the better it gets. Even odd speeled lat name, I say it once, it will misspell and when I say correct "****" it will remember the corection.

Good luck and keep posting,
Di

the Via Voice does slow my computer wayyy down-
I have 512 k of Ram and virtual ram set up too.

so i haven't used it much {in 03/04} and just reinstalled it the other day- so more training or and maybe better sound card.

you have to have a decent mic too. Plantronics or such.
