Blank What med's. are TOSer's taking?

Hi,

I'm asking as I was recently admonished for the amount I take by a new treating physician. I am taking Neurontin, 2400 mg a day, Cymbalta, 90 mg a day, 30 mg. of morphine twice a day, Norco, 10/325 4 times a day, and lastly, I have 4 mg. dilaudid for break thru pain that I may not take for weeks at a time and then may take 1 a day for 4 days in a row.

Please share so I can see if I am really that far out of line.

Thanks!

Does it improve the quality of your life, than can say you are not out of line... I do not know how long you have had this nasty disorder, but we all require differenet meds, dosages etc... It is not as though you are looking for a euphoria, just A LIFE, which is a hard thing to come by!

I've read that some can metabolize meds faster than others - so those would need more to cover the pain better.
I don't know if there are tests to prove that or not..

Do you feel like you are on an even keel with these med dosages?
Is your pain under control fairly well with these meds?
Is your blood work being checked often?

Have you looked tall these up to read more about them & any side effects?

What kind of pain do you have? mainly nerve, muscles?
Are you having any PT or other therapies also?

Default Thank you DDayMMB and Jo*mar

Yes, it improves the quality of my life. With out it, I don't know how I'd function, and I don't function that well as it is!

Also, sorry for the delay in responding, but I've been sick with sinus problems, on top of the usual!

I have so many issues from the TOS. I've had it about 8 years now, am bi-lateral. I also have jaw pain, stabbing pain in my L eye(surgery side) that my TOS Dr. says is from the TOS.

I have nerve and muscle pain. Sometimes the pain in my chest/neck is so intense, I'd like to be shot! But mostly, I deal with head aches (daily), muscle pain, bone like pain, and the electric shocks in my elbows, wrists and hands.

I do have regular blood work and the results have been fine.

If you can believe it, my Dr. actually said he's more concerned about himself and his license than me! Unfortunately, I'm stuck with him until my W.C. case is settled. That won't come soon enough for me!

Thanks Jo*mar for the sites. I'll ck. them out!

what an inconsiderate A**hole, than again most can not relate to what pain is! My Dr is retiereing and I am afraid of future pain management...I had a pump put in, though have it only dripping minimal, found can manage my pain better on a as need basis with orals. Adter 6 years can read my body pretty good and found prvention of a flare is easier to take care of and by this time can usually read into when one is approaching, granted I still require a maintance dose, though all-in-all end up taking a lot less this way! Can deinately the coldcauese a major problem in the day-to-dat battle, but keep plugging on...my best to you Mark

I appreciate your kind words as well as your info. about dealing with this monster of a disease/syndrome!

Yes, cold weather doesn't help, and I feel like I'm doing well by not asking for an increase in my med.s! Instead, I'm being chastised! YES! A**hole fits this guy perfectly! GRRRRrrrrrRRRR!

Thanks again!

Default Meds

I am not sure I have TOS but my new Chiro thinks I do have it bilaterally. As you can see the list is quite long since all the fun I have with cancer. I included them all to give you the "big picture". The list was quite short last November. I now have a blood pressure cuff because the blood pressure meds will be the first to go bye bye if I can help it.

VITAMINS
VITAMIN D3 50K IU WEEK 1X WEEKLY
TUMS ULTRA CALCIUM CARBONATE 1000MG 3 TABS DAILY
VITAMIN E 400 MG 1X DAILY

FOR PAIN:
TRAMADOL HCL 50MG 2 TABS EVERY 6 HRS AS NEEEDED

MENTAL HEALTH:
LEXIPRO 10MG 1 TAB DAILY IN MORNING

FOR SURGERY-LASH (SIMILAR TO WHIPLASH, this is code for TOS)
MELOXICAM 15 MG 1 TAB DAILY IN EVENING
CYCLOBENZAPRINE 10MG 1 TAB DAILY AT BEDTIME

FOR NAUSEA:
TRANSDERM SCOPOLAMINE 1.5 MG
1 PATCH EVERY 3 DAYS AS NEEDED FOR NAUSEA
ONDANSETRON 8 MG 1 TAB 2X DAILY AS NEEDED FOR NAUSEA

FOR HRT
SYNTHROID (DOSE VARIES)

FOR SINUSES
FLUTICASONE PROPIONATE 1 SPRAY DAILY AS NEEDED

FOR ECZEMA
NYSTATIN CREAM 1 APPL DAILY

FOR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
METAPROL 25MG TAB 2X DAILY

At 42 I feel like a granny with my box of pills.

For TOS I take Celebrex, Panamax and Endone

For clotting caused by TOS I am on Coumadin

For depression which is all related back to my situation I am on Mirtazapine, Diazepam and Murelax

For Migraines I take Imigrane

Due to being on blood thinners I can't take a lot of medication due to interactions with my meds

I am also on Seretide for a reliever puffer and Bricanyl

And yes I rattle when I walk hahaha

I too am a walking pill bottle. Only get 2 loritab 10s a day. Lyrica 150 at bedtime, soma 350, and 1 mg ativan nightly. Could take more lyrica but choose not to due to leg swelling and the almost unavoidable 60 pound weight gain.

I'm now on prozac 60 mg, wellbutrin 150 XL, and fairly recently added celexa 15 mg daily.

thyroid 100mcg, propananol 20 for high blood pressure-which has been lowered from 4 different meds after I lost weight, 2 of which caused my kidneys to fail last year.

I sometimes need 2 somas daily when I have lots of TMJ pain. My gynecologist says I have absolutely no pain tolerance after I went to the ER for 7.2 cm ovaqrian cyst. I know what pain is believe me after 9 surgical procedures on both arms for cubital, carpal, radial tunnel releases and tennis elbow before my rib resection.
