Hi All,
Was wondering what exactly RSD can feel like. Supposedly I might have it but I have so many aches, pains, burns, twitches, numbs, hots, colds, etc. that I haven't a clue whether it's RSD or something else like my TOS or my Fibro or chemical sensitivity, or degen disc... you get the idea. Been battling this past week the recurrence of a throat fistula (best description of whatever the heck it is) that hasn't bugged me since I had it cauterized over a year ago. It's actually feeling better but I'm noticing a spot on the back of my neck on that side that is noticably more "raw" feeling like I'd mildly skinned it (which it hasn't been at all). Don't feel any roughness to the skin, just isn't fun to touch or lightly rub across. Right side is fine. Half hour ago noticed a REALLY sore spot on the left breast. Granted I had surgery there in '95 and I am getting to that Aunt Flo time of the month (wouldn't ya know right in time for my surgery) but this feels almost like someone punched me hard there. Just cropped up suddenly and to the best of my knowledge I didn't do anything that would have caused it injury (I don't see any bruising either). Don't think it's a reaction to the Zithromax but it may be. Woulda thought that would be a generalized pain rather than so localized. This sound anything like RSD stuff to anyone? The neck thing might be but the chest thing seems really odd. Mary |

Hi Mary,
Mice to meet you. Some people have found they get RSD after TOS surgery, or that they had it all along. I have both but never had the surgery. Not sure if that is good or bad as I reacted positive for surgery to the scalene block. There is a lot of information on RSD if you go over to that board. You can even search for back information as this question is already posted over there. My personal opinion is that if you have a stellate ganglion block, you have a better chance of a correct diagnosis. This is so important as it is important to know if you really do have it so you will get correct and timely treatment. One site is http://www.rsdsa.org/2/what_is_rsd_crps/index.html 1/3 down the page you can click on the "diagnosis section" I hope you don't have this but if you do, early treatment is your best hope to get yourself into remission. All the best to you, Hope |

Hi, ESL...Here's a link to a thread Roz started on this subject:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...ad.php?t=13928 I posted a link to a good diagnostic article at the RSDSA website there. Also, I had asked this question here not long ago...you can search on my name and find that thread, if you want to. Flippnout posted a link to a site that has I think 40 something articles on the "RSD Puzzle", including some diagnostic stuff...although some of that confused me as it was different than things I'd read elsewhere. I agree about the RSD board here, too...I learned a lot there just reading people's stories, although they can be kind of scary, to be honest! There are some people over there (and here) who are going through a LOT with this. Take care, Donna |

hi i was told today that i need nerve blocks in my neck for rsd. i fell and hurt my arm and shoulder in jan. 2010. i've tried different kind of meds but nothing so far has worked. this is also a workers comp. case. so i have to wait for them to aprrove everything that is going to be done. the dr today told me about the nerve blocks. i have no idea what to expect. i'm in pain every day to the point that i sit and cry. i go to p t 3 times aweek which to me is a waste of time no relief what so every. i take pain meds every 4 hours and lyric but nothing seems to work / does the blocks help with the pain. after my shots i'm to have p t right after has anyone else done this.
i also am trying to stop being so hateful with every one in my family but i don't think they understand what i'm going though i have always done everything for myself never asking for help this is something that i'm having a hard time with. sometimes i think they don't beleive me about the pain i'm so frustrated that i don't know what to do. |
