Thanks for all the info. I really appreciate it. It is very encouraging.

I had my appt at UCSF today with Dr. Conte vascular surgeon and thanks to my scalenectomies I am not showing any vascular symptoms anymore but he felt I was showing neurological symptoms maybe because of scar tissue ( or who knows?) and they recommended I try out the Peter Edgelow. I am going to him next wed. It's seems like it's going to be a long journey, but I am ready to take it on.
They gave me the example of one of UCSF's own Rheumatologist who elected not to to have TOS surgery(rib resection). It took him 2 years while following the Edgelow protocol to get all better and now he plays Tennis regularly. That's giving me hope !
Thanks for all your support and input and good luck to all of you as well on your road to being well again.

You might also read on Sharon Butler's website, her thoughts on sticky fascia and how that can impact our bodies really fit for me and made sense.

she also suggests breathing properly, relaxation and gentle stretching and has developed programs for various RSI & TOS.
She does have a book on RSI in most libraries that will give a good sense of her ideas and philosophy as a Hellerworker that did get injured and learned from it.

Thanks, I checked out her site. Does the TOS kit come with anything else than a book with exercises or a downloadable exercise program. Is it easy to follow yourself without the help of a therapist?
I wonder if Sharon Butler's exercises would go hand in hand with Edgelow's protocol? I do need to stretch and strengthen but can't do the stretches as I go into pain.
Thanks for all the info.

I really think they will work together fine, but you can always start the Edgelow and add in the other if you think it might help.

I lent my S. Butler RSI book out to a family member and it got misplaced when they moved. LOL

but if you can get a copy from the library - it does have all the basic info as the older TOS plan had.

The various RSI & TOS plans are organized in a detailed step by step program for you, and the book is sorted by symptoms for all RSI's & by job activities. So you will kind of end up jumping from section to section to find the right stretches for TOS symptoms.

It also has the info about sticky fascia and the 'bank account" of arm use, breathing, relaxation, water, nutrition..

For the stretches Sharon's TOS program starts you off with a warm up, then from the head you work your way down and out with the stretches in a logical progression.

She does say on her site a money back guarantee .. I'm not sure of the exact wording but it is there near the ordering area.

Oh here is the TOS program info page - tells what you get with the program (and a 20.00 off section or filling out a survey if you buy)

The thing about her theory is you only stretch to the very slightest hint of a sensation, it's the hardest part for most to learn about - listening to what the body is telling us and not pushing past the comfort zone. baby steps...

I am in the process of meeting with Dr Conte Vascular surgeon at UCSF next week to figure things out.
I am also going to see Peter Edgelow in a couple weeks My previous surgeries have been done in India.
If anyone can share information about UCSF and TOS treatment I would truly appreciate it.
Thank you very much.
Someone know if Dr. Kirkpatrick. is that the spelling of his name....I think he is Bay area.

I wonder what that does for:

-- Recovery time.

-- Complications.

-- Success rate.

I imagine it reduces all three, which is good for the first two and bad for the last.

So how much is a scalenectomy in India?
