Having informations is the first step.

I was able to find some Alexander videos at the library, they were older but still the idea is the same..
there are some online too you tube, google vids, short bits but you can get the jist of it.

There are probably new & better dvd to be found that would still be cheaper than lessons. Or get a few lessons to get a feel for it and then a dvd to keep up with it.

Hi guys,

I finally got to talk to the surgeon and he told me he removed the anterior scalene and the first rib.

So does this information help anyone with a more detailed recovery time?

I have attached a little drawing.

Yes it's classical recovery time, many threads about it here ;)

limit pain with an instrument support

Hi, I hope you are using a guitar stand when you play. I've seen Carols Santana and Steve Howe use them. (it holds the guitar in playing position)

I had the same surgery you had and I found relative recovery (not back to 100%) after 5 years and couldn't have done this well without Feldenkries P/T and Awareness Thru Movement therapies. I still cant draw/paint as long as I used to unless I'm willing to be in bad pain for a day or two. Nerves are touchy things - your body will tell you when to rest from playing, you need to learn to listen to what your body is telling you.

Speedy recovery to you,
Anne

@portacot, it's been awhile since you chimed in. How have things turned out with your post-op experience? I hope you're doing well and able to play.
