Cool my problems with tos dx

is it possible to have full blown neuro tos

without ever having a neck spasm? but only a few awful arm pit area spasms? or is that more of a shoulder thing/pec minor thing..

the mroe i learn about tos the more of a blanket statement it seems to be and to me that's a big problem. for example, back in the day, i did not have not one neck spasm however the blanket tx assumes that i do and tells me to do neck stretches. i stretch my neck..it doesn't hurt but it doesnt feel right, id even argue it made my tissues or whatever even more irritated and thus tighter. now i DO get neck spasms on one side and so my tos is more "typical"..self fulfilling prophecy!

im sure some people would argue i didnt do the stretches correctly. but i did i did with a pt and he even told me to stop

this is just a rant/warning to people who go into pt in general bc i feel like pts get the diagnosis first then go into whatever generic tx you could read out of a book. they need to be a bottom-up pt.. if you sense that your pt doc whoever is doing this GO SOMEWHERE ELSE OR they will give you full blown tos. im dead serious.

I think that the "cookie cutter" PT or "standard" PT protocol for us is a big problem.

In the past so many have said they tried PT and it didn't work or made them worse,, I always wondered if they had poor PTs or the cookie cutter/standard stuff to strengthen . strengthen...

When the nerves & muscles are getting bad signals or cut off blood flow - we just won't respond like a "normal" PT patient would.

It must be specific for each person.

modalities to reduce the pain levels should be the first on the list. heat, ice, massage, ultrasound, IF stim, low level laser, trigger point work...

No weights , No bands until pain is way down as well as any other symptoms that could be related.

No forced stretches - as in trying to push as far as you can go
gentle passive stretches should work better for us in the long run


my rant/vent too...

Even if you do get some good PT and have some good results , don't expect a month or 2 to be all done, you have to keep up with the home/self care. The more you hurt the longer it will take , but if you can see small improvements and no increases in pain , then you know you are on the right track.
And it will probably be a life long lifestyle thing to be aware of.

We all slip back into just getting by, I do it myself, neglecting the self care stuff, start to get sore spots, sore elbows, hands/fingers start to not respond as well , hit more wrong keys../.

In fact I need to go do some soon, need to get back to doing it every morning.

yup i was prescribed 6 weeks of pt

i understand i guess as an initial assessment but there is zero chance that ill even be in the strengthening phase after 6 weeks.

another thing too, you have to wait until the next day to see how you feel. for whatever reason ive noticed my body doesnt tell me if i like pt til hours and hours later.

self care/HOME ergo is key too i havent used my laptop since november.
