Yes, I have noticed that too. I think stress is a factor.

On vacation my sugars went down to 103 fasting when at home they are 130-140. (with no medication).

The air up there is so clean...so unlike the dirty city. Even pollution might be stressing us?

this cereal i was eating i realized was spiking me, and it was whole grain blah blah blah. i used to eat a ton of cereal. im going to start eating more fats/protein in the morning

I think if you want cereal, unsweetened quality oatmeal is good.
You can mix in peanut butter for longer staying power. And Oatmeal does not raise me. I do only occasionally. Oatmeal provides soluble fiber which is good for the GI tract, and absorbs cholesterol from the bile salts.

Eggs are good...a fabulous source of choline. If you get the Omega-3 eggs, even better. I also like Butterball turkey sausage with eggs. (fairly low saturated fat). There are thin cut breakfast steaks in most groceries now, and they go good with eggs in the morning. They are very lean as well. Don't overcook because they get tough.

One has to watch cereals... look at the sugar content..you'll be amazed. I found some Corn Chex this summer with only 3 grams of sugar. It was the lowest I found. I sprinkle some cinnamon on it and it is very tasty + 1 packet of splenda.

There is even a Heinz low sugar ketchup now. Tastes the same.
And Hunt's makes a no sugar added tomato sauce--but not all stores carry it. I find it upNorth.

alrigth i have another question bc im wondering if im crazy or i need a new meter

today in bed my fasting glucose was a whopping 119
that was so high, i got out of bed to get another strip and it tested it..it was 65
then i tested it again and it was 70
then 5 minutes later it was an 82
10 minutes later 78

i have Postural orthostatic tachycardia and im wondering if getting up affected my readings but the 119 is still really really high

an hour or so(?) earlier i did have a bad leg cramp maybe that raised it. i shouldn't be getting leg cramps on the mg tho grr

Are your strips old?

Do you have the new mini meter? It double checks itself.
How old is the meter? Their batteries you know need to be replaced after a while.

The 3 other readings after the first one, are clusters. Remember, the home meters are not perfect and there can be + or - 10 pts.

Do you live with someone? Test them. I did that on my husband, while waiting for the control solution I ordered online.
I found it difficult to find control solution locally and eventually had to get mine from Medco.

that is good to know about hte control solution. my meter is 2 years old but ive never replaced the battery, the strips are brand new but im almost out so maybe i will buy the mini meter instead. the 70s-80s readings make sense to me but not the 119

The mini meter (new ) is free...but you need an Rx from your
doctor to claim it with the coupon and code they email you, at a pharmacy. The pharmacy puts it thru the computer system as an RX.

The new meter is very nice IMO and about $19.99 without the free offer. The new mini tests twice (internally) and is supposed to be very accurate. I got mine free. (but it took 3 wks for them to send me the coupon.)
