Unhappy Post surgery depression/anxiety

Hi guys....... NOT a good night, last night!
I had a horrifying nightmare. Extreme anxiety and felt so sad and couldn't breath!!!!!!!!! I actually had a crying episode that lasted about 10 mins.... like a fountain.
I thought I was doing really well with the post op stuff....... Last night really hit me bad.
I'm trying so damn hard to keep positive but at the moment feel crap.
An old recurrent injury to my hip ( gluteus medius muscle) has flared up causing my lower back to spasm. This has never been checked properly by my doctor. The muscle is distorted and swollen looking but my bloody so-called wonderdoc says he can't see any difference to the other side. Thats total BS as its soooooo obvious. I'm suffering with muscle tenderness above breast near scarring. Left shoulder feels tender and caught up and this rotten AWFUL constant pulsing hum in my left ear. I returned from the hosp yesterday(GYNAE) issues ASWELL, hormone imbalance possible perimenopause and a erosion of the cervix. I've been given an appointment to have it cauterised next month. I've told them that I what to do it all as naturally as possible..... NO HRT for me thanks! WHAT NEXT????? Springs to mind. AAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Very nearly lost the plot.
I haven't yet returned to work, miss being out there but at the same time anxious to go back and too bloody achy.
I'm having to dig pretty deep to pick myself up.
I've adopted/catnapped my neighbours cat for company and cuddles
I'm sure this feeling won't last BUT damn its horrid!
I'm determined that TOS and additional body issues will not take my mind also. POSITIVE, POSITIVE and I guess POSITIVE right?
Best wishes to all

Sorry you had a bad night. Are you feeling better now?

Have you looked into Feldenkrais, Egoscue or Postural restoration techniques to help mobilize your hips and back? It's important to make small strides and gain range of motion slowly.

I am curious if you regret the Sx, as I am facing it in less than a month.

Not sure how I feel at the mo??????????
Scarring is bothering me (achy and a slight redness seems to be appearing above the edge of one of them) but I know in my heart that it was best to get it done. Arterial/Venous occlusion on that one side at least, has been released - so I do get a sense of relief from that. Risk of aneursyms scares me more than possible nerve damage from op. I'm living proof that neurological symptoms can and do subside.
I ONLY CONSENTED TO THIS OP BECAUSE OF THE OCCLUSIONS.
I guess I've been hit by post op depression?
I know what I need to focus on to feel better ..... its just abit tough to find the motivation to actually work on myself!
On top of it all I'm actually abit embarrassed about the depressive feelings. I'm seeing my doc tomorrow so I guess I have alot to discuss with him.... not that it will do much good though, he's quite dismissive. I feel like shouting out loud... "hey creep my symptoms ain't fictious, I know what I'm feeling!!!!!"
Thanks for the postural tips. Chroma has also mentioned Egoscue, thats new to me so shall look into it.
Your support has helped to make me try to refocus on recovery instead of focussing on the aches and pains.
Best wishes to you.

Take a day or 2 to pamper yourself a little bit extra...
It's a good thing for all of us.

Is the corpse pose comfortable for you?
If so do it and listen to some favorite relaxing music.

Do you take any multivitamins, stress B complex, grape seed extract, MSM, a Cal/Mag blend??
- calcium for our bones & magnesium helps with muscles.
There's a ton more choiuces, but those are my main basics that I try to keep regular with.

@SD38, I hope you feel better soon!

No need to be embarrassed about depressive feelings. I get them too. I just don't share them because I'm a guy.

Did you already have an aneursym when you were diagnosed? Just curious.

Sending everyone good thoughts. I can relate with the really low moments - I battle them daily.

Bless your heart!

Your surgery was invasive so allow your body, mind and soul time to heal.
Even with your addition hip issues, the posture from post op could be contributing to all. Right now use the floor for light stretches, meditation and breathing. It will be your best friend. Then graduate to swim therapy.

PACE YOURSELF

What helps
1. Behavoir modification: meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, learning to breathe... thru pain, learning to say no
2. Move: the better TOS docs & PT therapists say move. Swim, biking, floor stretches always moving each area especially when in pain
3. Learning to "live with TOS" instead of it controlling you. Learning to let go
4. Allowing Time: time to heal, time to educate yourself, time to find what works for you may not work for me, time to find the perfect TOS professional for you
5. Finding your nitch with TOS: work, extracirricular, daily living, family, friends, and most rewarding finding that smile once again. What makes you smile, laugh, happy, finding peace

Hi Jo*mar
Yes the corpse pose is good and I also listen to meditational music.

Its just that I have noticed that I'm letting my self care slip. Its been about a week since I've done any real focussed meditation work on myself so I'm slightly concerned now that I may have a touch of depression.
I can't even face the prospect of returning to work even though its just part time 3 hrs/day. I've actually started to have nightmares about people hurting me both physically and emotionally. Yesterday I tried to catch up on some sleep in the afternoon..... wish I didn't bother. I wasn't refreshed and dreamt that a person in work was trying to pick at my scar tissue?????? I awoke to find that I had rolled over onto my side and my muscles near the incisions were very achy.
I take a one a day multivit that contains Vit A,D,E,C Thiamine,Riboflavin,Niacin,Vit B6,Folic acid,Vit B12,Pantothenic acid, and iron all 100% RDA.
Wait for it...... along with Omega 3 oil and Glucosamine Sulphate.
I haven't tried grape seed extract and what is MSM?
Thanks for your input, it's VERY appreciated at the mo!

Hi Chroma,
thanks for the support
I used to think that I was a tough chick

My surgeon did say that the good news was that I had no damage done by possible pass aneursym and had nothing at the time of my angiogram, which was preformed Aug 2010....... Yes I know, I had to wait a whole year for my procedure- thats the UK NHS for you.
My op I suppose was more preventative.
As crazy as it sounds, even though I'm feeling low at the moment I'm glad its been done..... no occlusion now on my right side
Just wished I was feeling abit mentally stronger, I have anxiety kicking in and I don't like it!!!!
Best wishes to you, and hope you are well.

Thank you olecyn,
The funny thing is I'm very good at sending out supportive advice and suggestions to others but not taking them on board myself
I should prehaps take note of my own mantra: POSITIVE,PATIENCE and POSTURE.
Best wishes to you too!
