Glad you have hope. Mine is about gone. I am losing everything and feel very alone and cold. I have nerve damage in my legs and feet with alot of pain. I have been trying to find something I can work at from home but have not been successful. Would like to talk to any friend. Thanks, Dan |

Brings to mind all the horrific problems we have had with my son;s hiccups.
Often they flared from the pain shots. It was diagx the first time as adrenal failure from too much steroid introduced into the body and the adrenal glad shut down. the more recent time this week from after pain shots the pain doc called in at the hospital said that when the chemical synopsis in the brain is altered it sends or cannot send correct signals to the diaphgram causing spasms in it and thus the hiccups. The only thing that has helped is Bynadryl and ativan sometimes.... But if they are consistant incontractable, the ones that flare the TOS in the neck from the spasms, he needs Throazine (psych med).....YUCK, they had to give him enough it knocked him out last Feb. this past weekend fortunatly they did stop off and on for periods. The ER at this hospital was less then compassionate. THe other ER at least had a doctor to understand, ENGLISH literaly! and understood the effect on a cervical and tos patient. For babies with more of an acidosis, we used sugar. For me, it is a reflex that I chock a lot. Not even eating just the swallowing seems to go awry and chock and cough. Hyper gag reflex too. The throat seems tight and deep gulps to swallow. Dr. togut discribed this once Beth, I can;t remember what he said though?????

I wonder if it is related like my autonomic neuropathy is,
I mean, how is it that we can have swallowing problems that are related, how is the hiccuping involved I wonder? Hope if you find out, please post, and I will ask my doc next time I see him. I am so sorry Hope that you are suffering this symptom. It is very annoying, crazy-making, irritating and at the very least, you just must be SICK of it. I'll start also praying for you. |

i also have hiccuping. For me it happens while I am eating. If I have a bout where my swallowing is an issue, as soon as I stop choking the hiccups are right there. The only thing that calms them down for me is ativan.
When I mentioned this to my doctor he said I had acid reflux. Yeah right. I have absolutley none of the symptoms of acid reflux. Haven't had a stitch of heartburn since I was pregnant. Trix |
