When i take a valium or a Diazapem ( or how ever you spell it) All my symptoms diminish, completely. Like im talking pretty much zero.

But in saying that i know there are side affects to drugs like that, can anyone tell me what some off the long term or even short term side affects they have experienced from this drug.

Very effective in short therm only

One of our members has been on it for 2 years. That's not bad and it's plenty of time to work on other things to improve the underlying condition.

I've been on it for 2 years. I've only decreased my daily dosage over this time. I have used it on a few occasions in a higher dose to knock a flare out when additional Lyrica did squat.

Lately, I've been supplementing with Valerian Root if I feel I need a little extra relief. Jury is still out as to whether it's effective, but a rather harmless alternative to try.

I took it for 6 years as needed (maybe 4x per mo) with good results. It did help with the stinging, burning pain that would accompany a flare up as well as the transient nerve pains.

However... I had to stop taking it because I would get severely depressed 30min after a dose. I mean really depressed. Suicidal.

So now I just live thru these pains. I am taking Percocet 5/325 as needed for pain along with an Aleve for the swelling and ice applied where needed. I have opted to 'pass' on any cortisone injections for swelling. I am having a hard enough time with my weight as it is. I drink Sleepytime Extra Tea (the extra is the Valerian) at night. It's helpful.

Bottom line: if it works for you, ask for it. But above all RESPECT IT!

I'm writing for my boyfriend who has had NTOS for 25yrs. He was prescribed Valium and has been on it for 8yrs and it makes his flare ups go away completely.

The recent problem is that his kaiser dr. retired and his new doctor decided, based on nothing, that if Valium worked, he couldn't possibly have TOS and that he's a drug addict.

He isn't. Who would WANT TO TAKE 20mg of Valium every day?

At any rate, Kaiser is going to force him off of the Valium and he's looking for another doctor who understands why it works. Dr. Ellis, in Berkeley, prescribed it initially, but we don't even know if he's still practicing.

We are in Northern CA. Does anyone here have a doctor who is open to it?
