Default Double spinal fusion

I've been having a lot of problems with my lower back lately. My Dr. suggested that maybe I should consider a double spinal fusion. I've already had 2 lower back surgeries. One in 1990, and one in 1994, so I'm not really too enthused. It would be on levels L4-5, and L5-S1. He wants me to consult with a couple of other doctors about it and get their opinion.

Has anyone else had a double spinal fusion? It sounds like a scary surgery.

Check on the spinal forum here -
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum22.html

or a forum wide search would work too.

You don't have RSD to complicate things do you?
Another scary but rare fact is that sometimes RSD can be triggered by surgery, or any number of things..

Thanks Jomar, I'll check that out. I don't have RSD, but surgeries really haven't worked very well for me in the past so I'm pretty skeptical.

Maybe you've already tried these, but if not, you could give them a go concurrent to getting those additional doctors' opinions:

8 Steps to a Pain-Free Back: Natural Posture Solutions for Pain in the Back, Neck, Shoulder, Hip, Knee, and Foot

5 * 228 reviews

http://www.amazon.com/Steps-Pain-Fre...8036716&sr=1-1

Healing Back Pain Naturally: The Mind-Body Program Proven to Work

5 * 68 reviews

I'm not vouching for these books personally. You'll want to read the descriptions and the reviews.
