I found this talk given by Dr. Dean Donahue online. It cuts off about 2/3's of the way through but is quite interesting until then!

Limoges: Thank you for posting.
When, if and why, I decide to pursue surgery. I'll need an airplane ticket as he's the only Doc I think I'd allow to touch me. |

I wanted to bump this talk again after reading current posts about doctors experimenting on patients, and the use of stents, etc. I guess I felt good about Dr. Donahue operating on me because ultimately, he decided whether or not my case could be helped by surgery. He doesn't perform rib resections/scalenotomies on demand. I also can't say enough about his bedside manner. It's rare to find a doctor who has the combination of skill, intelligence, and who is also a compassionate person. Donahue goes out of his way to make sure his patients are doing well and being cared for during recovery.

I've seen Dr. Donahue several times now. I've always been impressed with his approach to dealing with patients. Very sympathetic, but even in his communication about TOS.
I just recently had botox injections. He followed up with three phone calls and voice mails. Most would have their secretary leave a message...and once. He did it personally. And on our follow-up phone call we spent at least 30 minutes covering all my questions...and even rambled on off topic about sports and such. You never got that feeling he wanted to rush off the phone and go deal with something else. I've seen a gazillion doctors over the last 2-3 years and he by far is the best I've run into. If I do need to get a surgery, he's the one. KY |

KY - Just curious, have you received any positive effect from the Botox injections? Did you have injections into your scalene or pec minor, or both?
Hope you're taking care! |

Another thing that impresses me about Dr. Donahue is that even though he's a surgeon, he won't operate on someone he doesn't think is a candidate for surgery. It sounds like a lot of these doctors want to cut for the sake of cutting, which would frighten me away.
