I had both mine removed and they wouldn't let me keep either of them.

You'd have to stand at the rear if there are any spare ribs served at the next bbq

I'm not getting the surgery, but if I had, I would have had it laminated/sealed and used it for a paper weight. Perhaps also a thinking aid. You could use it to scratch your chin hairs while you gaze off into the distance in deep thought.
Maybe this can be our "What could you do with your rib?" thread. |

Haha, Blurto!
Chroma, I don't think it's going to be heavy enough for a paper weight. Also, no chin hairs that I'm aware of--yet!!! I will have it tomorrow, so I'm excited, sort of. Over 30 years of pain caused by the shape and location of the little bugger--I plan on staring it down for awhile! |

Interesting discussion topic -
As for me, I had no option as the pathologist got to examine the rib closely for me! At least it was benign! |

It's policy at MGH that all things are gone over by Pathology, too. I just asked to take it once they were done.

You haven't been active for a while so I hope you notice this! It seems from this thread that policies for keeping the removed rib sections vary from hospital to hospital. I'm going to be under the knife in a few weeks w/ Dr. Donahue at MGH and was wondering if you successfully managed to obtain your removed rib portion post-op? Thanks, Ben |
