Does the surgery help w/ the awful pain in the neck and shoulder?

It should help with much of it, those extra c ribs are crowding the muscles, veins/arteries/ nerves opening up the area should help.

The nerve & blood flow is being affected by the crowding and causes spasms & muscle irritations= pain & discomfort.

That is a relief to hear, I think that burning pain in the neck and shoulders is the worst part of it all. Yes the numbness is aggravating but the neck pain drives me absolutely crazy! I got my surgery date today, Oct. 30. I am hopeful that it doesnt change!

Yes! For me, it did. 3 months post-op (cervical rib removal, scalene removal, and aneurysm repair), my neck and shoulder pain are way down. Physical therapy since surgery has helped me a lot, too. I wish you the best!

When did you start PT? Like how long after the sugery did the doc recommend starting PT? How long before you could drive again? I have a standard car and i'm having my Rt. side done are you able to use your arm at all after the sugery?

Oh, What about exercise? Can your resume working out? Running, Cardio, Ect.?

I've posted details of my recovery under the "Chris Carpenter" thread if you want to look at it. I drove at about 3 weeks, but I have an automatic; I don't know if you're restricted more with a standard.

So i had my botox injections done today and WOW... that hurt like Hell and still does..
