Thank you guys for encouraging me to look further. None of this was sitting very well with me so I went back and looked at the doctor Iris said her friend went to. I found out that the doctor that my PCP had been referring to was a different doctor and the reviews I read online were for a different doctor with the same name. So I did some more research and spoke with his (very helpful and nice) nurse this morning. She got me in TOMORROW to confirm TOS as a diagnosis and said that if it is confirmed at the lab with provocative testing that they'll get me in to see the doctor in a week or two and surgery will be scheduled the week after if necessary! She seemed to know her stuff and said they get 6-10 new referrals for TOS a week so they see a lot of it and seemed to take the whole thing much more seriously and was more informed. Hopefully that reflects on the entire practice. Also, the thoracic and vascular surgeons are part of the same practice so they really work together which is comforting.
I'm going to check out this avenue. Even though they weren't listed as accepting my insurance, turns out they will!
Thank you again, guys. Your unease let me know that my gut really was saying to look elsewhere and, quite possibly, has saved me from a poor outcome. :-)
