i only flare up really badly once a month now, if that

what kind of meds would help me calm my nervous system down that don't require you take the pills daily?

i like lidocaine patches but my flare was too widespread id have to use a whole box

Injection of Medrol or Toradol. Valium or Ativan. See your doctor of course.

I have some old klonopin I take. I wonder if I should ask for more of it or Ativan or valium

I am learning more about benzodiazepines. Klonopin and Valium are long acting while Ativan is short acting but takes effect quicker. I believe this makes Ativan best for flares. I took someone's Ativan when I forgot my Valium at home and it worked great.

Flare is tòradol shot, manage the escalation with Valium as muscle spams will wrap around the nerve and start big flaring. if you can use Valium as the muscle relaxant you are on top of it.

My maintenance is Endocett as need up to two a day, most days I try just Alieve, tòradol 10 mg pill once a month to get on top of the pain it is a kick butt anti inflammatory. You have to not over due it, it can cause bleeding if over used. No more than 5 days in a row. But if I'm at the second day I run to an urgent care and get the tòradol shot.

Near daily Valium keeps me in check, either a half or the whole. I can take daily but hate taking meds.

If I am ER level after all else fails, shot of Valium, Tòradol and morphin. This has been very rare since I maintain with Valium and Endocett and reduced work schedule. This is often the head pain flare of cervogenic spasms. When I have tears running from the pain.

There is something new called DM/Q that is supposed to help desensitise the nerves. The DM is same stuff thats in Robitussin DM. The Q is Quinodine. I cant take the Q so I am trying to just get the DM from a compounding pharmacy, but they are having trouble getting it. My nerve flares are rare now too-usually exacerbated by certian pt or massage, so avoiding those now.I am also taking Alph-Lipoic acid (natural) which is supposed to help dull the nerves also.

Iwas wondering if u know exactly what u call this med., did u spell it wrong? I cant find it in drug library. Do neurologists know about this drug?

I think it's Zenvia. But I haven't found much info at all on it and I doubt it will work just taken occasionally for flares. Possibly not for TOS or spinal neuropathies at all.

Yes, Marc is correct. Zenvia. My Neurologist had samples of it. It is supposed to help prevent flares, but I dont think it would help once you get the flare. I am waiting for my compounding pharmacy to make it without the quinidine for me-if I ever get it I will report back. You can also get neurontinin cream at a compounding pharmacy. i use a neurontin and flexeril cream with an anti-inflammatory in it too.

Anyone tried Zenvia or plain old Dextromethorphan yet. I stumbled upon the link below and recalled this thread.
