My doctor prescribed physical therapy before my surgery. I go in today for my first visit. He told me it is the same exercises he wants me to do after surgery and I could do them at home. Did anyone else do this?

I went into PT today and she measured my range of motion on many different angles then she gave me about 8 stretching exercised to do several times a day. Some make my symptoms flare up so I only do a few of those but some really feel good so I will keep up with them. Hopefully these help me strengthen before surgery so my recovery is faster after

I was also told by my neurologist to have PT before surgery is even considered. It seems they want to be sure that PT will not improve my condition to the point that I am functional again before considering drastic measures (like surgery). Maybe your doctor is thinking along the same lines? Unnecessary surgery is an awful thing, so it makes sense that doctors would try to prevent it! At the very least, I hope you can receive any amount of relief in the meantime, whatever the outcome. Good luck!
