Hi everyone. I haven't been on here in several weeks. I'm really struggling with my recovery. it has been extremely painful and exhausting. I am 8wks post surgery and still only have 80° movement lifting my arm. MY scapula is winging so bad now I cannot lean back in a chair anymore. I'm trying to be grateful for the small successes I am having but I wasn't prepared mentally.

Hi tsquaw,
I'm sorry to hear you're having a hard time. I hope these are just temporary problems on your road to a great recovery. Did you have winging scapula before surgery? Who did you have surgery with? Transaxial or supraclavicular (armpit or collar bone)? Thanks, please keep us posted. |

Hi tostrojan
I had my surgery with Dr Illig in Tampa fl. I love him. my scapula was starting to wing prior to surgery it has just gotten a lot worse. I had a scalenectomy, first rib removal(supraclavicular), part of my c7 removed, and a pec minor release. I need to mention that the pre surgery pain is getting better so Dr Illig was a God send to me I just wasn't prepared for the slow recovery and all the new challenges! |
