I was wondering??? does anyone here have cervical ribs AND congenital cervical stenosis. It is where neck bones have defect also. Seems neck bones are squashing my spine cord. YIP EYYY.
I was just curious if this is some kind of genetic syndrome...not just cervical rib problem. I have heard of some here needing cervical fusion. I am pretty sure my whole cervical spine, shoulders, bracial plexus is part of overall genetic birth defect. My shoulders are small and turn in, my neck is the small ballerina type. I have looked and looked for this specific type of birth defect but had no luck......I would just like to know exactly what defect I have suffered through.....right? Any answers would be so wonderful!!! |

I have congenital cervical stenosis, but no cervical ribs. I have a cousin who I believe has TOS symptoms and we recently discovered she has cervical ribs. I don't believe she has cervical stenosis.
While it definitely sounds congenital, I don't think there is any known genetic syndrome to describe your specific case (spinal stenosis and cervical ribs). This life isn't fair, we've just got to play the cards we are dealt. I think you just have to deal with each issue separately, which is what I've done.

Funny thing....I was born in rosewell, new mexico LOL...hahahaha thats just great, cause I am really a alien. nospam: If your cousin has cervical ribs I guarantee you she is uncomfortable. C-ribs cause pressure as everything at bracial plexus is being squashed. Even if you don't have the surgery to get them out scar tissue builds up due to just pressure. I had terrible scar tissue all over the place when doctor tried to fix me. I didn't understand why I had scar tissue before surgery?? My doctor said the pressure caused it. Anyway, just FYI. I take a very powerful natural anti-inflammatory which helps tremendously. I am now able to keep inflammation out of bracial plexus. Before I found the anti-inflammatory I could feel the heat coming off my plexus.....could have cooked a burger on it. lol I think if I had had the anti-inflammatory back before surgeries I think I could have maybe prevented alot of pain. I had to have surgeries due to circulation problems......the surgeries were painful, then after surgeries searing pain was much better but I had new pain from the surgery. The way I am now is much better than losing my fingers and hands due to no circulation!!!! Good luck to everyone here. thanks for comments......it is nice actually talking to people who has experienced similar difficulties. |

Please share what you are taking. I am really worried about more scar tissue forming from inflammation.

This is what I used to get rid of the inflammation in my back. It's called astaxanthin which is in krill oil. I only have 9 posts and I had to have 10 before I could give a link....so next post will have link.

I found astaxanthin by sheer luck, I just googled strongest natural anti-inflammatory. As we all know nsaids are really tough on the stomach. I couldn't take them. Astaxanthin is what makes flamingo's pink in color. This stuff was my miracle. No more heat in my back , inflammation completely gone after about 7 days. was awsome. My dog has arthritis and he had hard time walking from old age. I gave some to wilson and he was much better too! I just got lucky with that one. TOS also gave me RSD and I now have a pain syndrome. It started before surgery due to cervical rib damaging my nerves. This hurts very bad, but when I get correct diagnosis everything should get better....I HOPE ANYWAY....take care and hope this info helps someone.......The astakrill abolishes inflammation very dramatically. I wish I had found this before my surgeries as I had terrible inflammation after my surgeries were done.....THAT REALLY HURT Anyway, hope this helps somebody.......good luck fellow toser's. |

I consider my cervical ribs and extra scalene birth defects or abnormalities.
In addition, I had some internal reproductive parts that were doubled (yes... 2 of things that should only be one) or halfed (yes... septums were splitting things that should be one into two!) Total genetic wierdness! My mom swears she didn't even take an asprin while pregnant with me. Anne

I had a sacral dimple at birth which can be a sign of spina bifida. (which luckily I did not have) Some of these things are due to a lack of prenatal vitamins (folic acid in the case of spina bifida). My mother just didn't know at the time.
The prenatal knowledge we have today is just vastly superior to that of 40 years ago.
