Default Disability Insurance Before Surgery?

Is there any kind of disability insurance that one could take out in case a TOS operation goes horribly wrong on you and you cannot work?

Or is it like a pre-existing condition now and no one would touch you.

Just wondering if there is something for if you like are near death afterwards that you could take out.

Probably not but thought I'd throw it out there.
