Hi, I had a scalenectomy only, about 22 years ago. If I remember right, I think the surgery took about 4 hours. Good luck.

Good luck with your surgery! I am scheduled for one in October. I'll be thinking about you!
Where are you having yours done? |

have you had another opinion? my doctor, and others, believe you have to take rib out too to leave enough room for scar tissue and not have to go back in. 2 days in hosp no sling - this is not a broken arm 2 days hospital they drained the wound daily yes - no biggie all in all it was easy, pain minimal, moved my arm a lot like normal |

are you open for a 2nd and 3rd opinion a part from 1st rib discussion, i would not recommend anyone undergoing complicated, hard to diagnose tos surgery without other opinions to either reinforce your decision or change it |

Hello, when u have a moment please read my story. i had my first rib removed with my first surgery, scar tissue formed, and had a second surgery. 20 years later, problem is worse. Please make sure you ask your surgeon a lot of questions. God bless you on your surgery.
