Have been having a lot of success recently with taping to control posture. Its very good at relieving pain, giving muscles a rest and teaching them where to be. Do others have experience of whether this works
However yesterday the tape has been put on horizontally across my upper back and shoulders and there seems to be no way I will be able to reach it when I need to take it off Any ideas other than getting someone else to take it off |

The are some older posts with members having good help with taping.
I think it can be left on til it comes off on it's own with showers & time etc it will loosen up...I think it comes loose in a week or so maybe a bit longer? Did a PT or MD place the tape for you? Any follow up appt to see how it is working for you? Are you doing other self care things along w/ tape or tape only? Tape is a good tool and helpful, but it alone won't "fix" things..

Can you point me at the older posts your referred to
Its kinesio tape which is less aggressive than leuoKotape even with underwrap it sticks well so it stays on better. It was placed by PT more at my request than her seeing it as essential so it is an adjunct to a wider regime of treatment Thanks Quote:

I have also tried posture taping and thought it helped relieve symptoms.
My PT warned me that it wasn't something I should do alot b/c it facilitated the problem. The tape provides external support to the muscles and allows them to remain weak --- and may even allow the muscles to become weaker. We need to strengthen the muscles so that they alone provide the postural support we need. |
