I'm overwhelmed by all this...I feel like I'll never learn it all. Honestly I don't even know where to start. If the pain is mainly in my hands and forearms, what is trigger point for that pain?

much of the info is in this sticky thread-
Trigger point information {TrPs} for short
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread125577.html
post #1 in it has a collection of info links

this is one of my favorite ones for locating TrPs -
http://www.pressurepointer.com/pain_reference_chart.htm

You just find Arm Pain and click the list below it and read about each & the symptoms , also has a photo with highlights to show where pain is referred to and shows the muscle & where to feel for TrPs...

Same for Hand pain..etc

I think I found trigger points in my supinator muscle, both hands. I just massaged that area and my arm went numb. The whole muscle is hard as a rock.

Did you only massage the area? Or did you try to treat the TrP with pressure on the specific spot first?
you need to press on the trigger spot and hold til pain fades away.
usually 20-40 seconds is all that is needed.
