I took Gabapentin (Neurontin) for several years. It really did help me- in fact, it was the only thing that got rid of or took the edge off of the nerve pain from intercostal neuralgia. My PM dr. started me off at a low dose and we slowly increased it. My main complaint was I gained ALOT of weight on it. I had to decide if I wanted to be thinner and in pain, or "chunky" and not in pain- I chose to be chunky....I've since been able to take myself off of it.

I took Neurontin for several years for nerve pain.It help the pain,
but I had to stop it due to a lot of fluid retention (legs, ankles, feet) and hypertension
