Oh my goodness....that is terrible!
How did they go in for the rub resection? What town was this in? I don't wanna go there for surgery!
Gosh, I am so sorry that this happened to you. I understand the pain of RTC having 3 torn myself....but I did mine the regular way: tear RTC and THEN TOS develops.
I wish you the best of luck. Rehab for one does not mix well with the other. Good luck!

I merged your threads to keep replies in one place so it is easier for you to keep track of.
You might want to bookmark this thread so you can find it again later on.

A few have had a nerve nicked during surgery, I don't recall any cut rotator cuff ligaments being posted about..

Did it take 3 years for this to be figured out? How did PT figure it out?

I would find an impartial surgeon , take records and surgical notes, and get some second opinions..

Hi thanks for your message, I had my intercostal brachial nerve cut during surgery aswell. My shoulder has not felt right since the op at all. So I have been going to and from different doctors, any physio I have been referred to has not met anyone who has had a first rib resection, my recent physio knows about the surgery but again not met anyone who has had it, she is the one that found my rotacuff ligaments have been cut by doing a physical exam. Also an osteopath has backed this up. My shoulder now does not sit in the correct place and my husband has been shown how to pop it back into place, but all I have to do is move for a drink and its back out. That in its self causes alot of nerve pain as things are being composed. I'm going to a vascular surgeon tomorrow actually. I just wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else? And how common it was. Cheers

So sorry to hear of your trauma! Very Scary!
Why are u going to avascular surgeon? Did a TOS specialist do your surgery? Did u have a transauxillary or supraclavicular incision? Just wondering how surge was near RC ligaments. What did u have removed? 1 st rib? C-rib? Scalenes? Scar tissue?
What type of tos were u dx with? Hope u can get your shoulder repaired and get some relief!
Best Wishes

I'm in the UK and I found a TOS specialist and he did the surgery on me. I had transauxillary approach. I had my first rib removed. He was a vascular surgeon, I need to see a orthopaedic surgeon though for my rota cuff. The vascular surgeon I saw the other week (not the one who did the surgery, was getting a second opinion on my surgery) said he has never cut anyone's rota cuff ligaments during a first rib resection. So I have to wait until I've seen the orthopaedic surgeon to see if he thinks it was cut during that operation. I'm not sure what TOS I had, will have to a look at my notes, will get back to you. All I know is I wish id never had it done!!! I'm on morphine patches, Lyrica, co-codamol and Tramadol. Had to give up my horse and change alot in my life to help me cope with the pain. I would say on average before the op my pain was 5 out of 10 and now its a 7
