What the... let me be upfront and state i never quite understood and hence was skeptical of the triggerpoint stuff. Now, i had a standard referred pain pattern as in the book link above and did a self massage in the general area with a pain relieving gel, and whoosh, my symptoms disappear. This is no placebo effect.

Chroma, looks like you were working on your scalene trigger points for about a year now. Did this make any difference for you?
My anterior scalenes are very tender and painful to massage. They indeed feel like one big trigger point referring pain to my arms and pec minor area. I try to massage them gently a couple times a day. Pressing hard usually flares me up in one way or the other. Hoping to see some improvement eventually. |

Most of the time, I do not work on them. But I tried again just this week and gave myself a flare up that made me miss work the next day. I wish I had better news. |

I massaged my traps, the SCM and sub occipital group. Last really worked. SCM is also another issue. For us TOSers it and the levator tend to pick up a lot of the cervical stability work and go nuts.. |

Pressing tender points on other muscles works great for reducing spasms. But so far, not on my scalenes. |
