Ah. See, that's what I'm trying to figure out. We(my husband and I) went to Johns Hopkins to begin with because they DO have TOS specialists, but, after we went there, another dr. gave us Dr. Bowling's name, and said to try him, since he's local. Dr. Bowling certainly seemed to know what he was talking about, but we really liked the surgeon at Hopkins. They've scheduled my surgery at Hopkins for the end of the month. Dr. Bowling is going to call me on the 13th to let me know for sure if he's going to do the surgery(he wanted to review some things). I guess we will just see what Dr. Bowling says, then make our decision.

Neither Dr. is promising 100% success, and they both insisted I had to really put in time with physical therapy before they would consider surgery(which I did). So, I don't feel like either one is trying to push me into it.

I would go to John Hopkins. I would not go to the local guy. You only get one body, go with the best doctor you can.

Did anybody talk to you about the pec minor release? That seems help success rates.

No, that hasn't been mentioned. I will ask Dr.Lum(Hopkins) about it. He is excellent at emailing you back right away even on weekends and holidays.

I would second the recommendation of Dr. Thompson in St. Louis. He did my surgery in June 2012, and I was very pleased with the outcome. I had a 1-year-old at home at the time which made it hard, but ultimately it was good to have it done with (I've since had another baby).
I wish you all the best moving forward. You won't regret having the most experienced surgeon possible.

Dr Dean Donahue at MGH seems to have a positive following here on the board, and several have reported good outcomes from his procedures.
If it were me -- I would consult with Dr Donahue as well, and then decide among the 3 doctors.

Don't rush your decision...and good luck with it...
I had neurogenic TOS and had surgery performed by Dr. Lum in July.
My surgery was 100 % successful and I feel great. I highly recommend him, even though I do not know other doctor .But doctor Lum knows what he is doing. I am lucky to live in Baltimore and I also had a personal remo word from God before surgery.*edit*

Hi YanaO -- that's encourgaging - thank you for sharing! Would you mind describing some of your symptoms and how long you had symptoms before getting surgery??
