Default ? About Paget-Schroetter Syndrome

Can someone have PSS and not TOS? If no, is there medical information that would support this? VA diagnosed me with PSS only but they missed the TOS and are saying that one can have PSS without TOS.

Thanks,

RW

I believe so, but it is probably rare. I wouldn't be surprised if most vascular surgeons automatically resect the 1st rib w/PSS.

I just can't find any medical evidence that agrees with the VA stance, so I will keep searching.

The syndrome also became known as "effort-induced thrombosis" in the 1960s,[2] as it has been reported to occur after vigorous activity,[3] though it can also occur spontaneously. It may develop as a sequela of thoracic outlet syndrome.
